Say It Ain't So! Oliver and Kyle to be Gone by April?

Kiss them goodbye

Okay, we know this is going to upset a lot of folks around here (myself included), but TV Guide Magazine is reporting that according to executive producer Frank Valentini, Oliver Fish and Kyle Lewis ("Kish") are going to be written off of One Life to Live. The last of Scott Evans and Brett Claywell's episodes will air mid-April.

This is apparently not a joke. The reasoning behind sunsetting these characters? Turns out One Life to Live's ratings "were particularly dismal in late 2009 during the weeks that Fish came out of the closet and he and Kyle officially became a couple."  Popular as these two characters were with gay viewers and with the press, they apparently weren't resonating with the soap's regular audience. Or at least that's the conclusion producers of the show drew. Ouch!

UPDATE! Scott Evans has responded to this story via his Twitter account. Apparently it was news to him:

Poor FUB

For more details check out the TV Guide Magazine story.  And *** SPOILER ALERT *** after the break find out how the characters will make their exit....

SPOILER!

On the March 29 episode, Fish finds out for certain that he's the father of Sierra Rose. There are "rumblings" of a custody battle with Gigi, but since Stacy is dead and Oliver is the biological father, the law is on his side and he and Kyle head offstage to start a new life with the baby.

According to TV Guide Magazine, "A show rep says the characters will not actually leave Llanview and, because Fish is a cop, he may pop up in a crime-related capacity down the line — but no promises are being made."
