Mores for Gays video blog (104): Gay is the new black

You may have seen it on signs in rallies across the nation, but are we really ready to concede that "Gay is the New Black"?

Lena Waithe drops by to discuss the implications to the black community and the gay community, but first she has to explain the basics to Daniel.

Enjoy!

Funny Video, but why all the guests?

The video blog has always had guests or interviews, but now these bits have taken over the video blog. I miss the Daniel only episodes.

DANIEL and LENA = LOVE!

I can't decide who I want to bake pies for more, Adorable Daniel or Smoking Hot Lena.

Please invite Lena back often.

Great Vlog as always Mr. Leary.

T-T.

I must declare that you, Mr Leary, & your guest are simply scrumptious. I could just eat you both up [that was not a metaphor].

However, i do apologize but i feel that perchance this is not quite a more. A majority of your past vidoes concerned themselves with social ettique, such as how to handle Valetine's Day & polite ways of finding out if the beau you invited to diner is of a gay persuasion.  This video, while charming & endearing, did not deal with any sort of social issue. It was more of comedy skit.  Which is delovely. However, having the name Mores for Gays does slightly imply there is something about behaviours, mannerisms, & such.

Again, i mean not to offend. Just perchance a new series by you for comedy skits perchance? Laughter for Gays? & still have Mores for Gays for all of the proper ettique & such.

Religion

Some think that the discovery of a 'Gay' gene means that bigots will try to change the gene to remove the 'gay'.

They have not discovered a 'religion' gene.

That makes gays a natural form of nature and religion as a 'life style' choice.

This is profound but WE WIN.

Actually, science has...

Actually, science has determined that there are specific neurological and chemical conditions in the brain that occur during "spiritual" experiences.  It has been suggested that humans are in fact genetically "hard-wired" for religious/spiritual feelings.

That being the case, it's not inconceivable that drugs could be developed to supress those feelings.

Which brings us into the dangerous realm of medical ethics that we will face in the 21st Century. The reality is that especially as genetics and biochemistry become better understood it will be hypothetically possible to alter a wide range of human of human behaviors through medical means.

But where are the reasonable boundaries.

For example, many traditionalist religions believe that the "natural" role of women is to be submissive to men and interested only in serving as wives and mothers. Individuals or groups that believe this might opt to have genetic/neurochemical modifications performed on their daughters to supress "unnatural" behaviors like ambition and independence so as to ensure that they will live "moral" lives.

Indeed, it could potentially be possible to "cure" any number of subjectively inconvenient "disorders" whether it's homosexuality, willful females, religious impulse or just about anything else.

Human beings could become little more than robots, reprogrammed to suit the desires of whoever is able to make decisions on their behalf.

It's a scary thought, but not an unrealistic one.  Even today it's well-known that many parents over-medicate children in order to deal with so-called pathologies that are often nothing more than the result of difficult environments that the children live in.  Many parents wouldn't hesitate to take it further and try to impose their desires and values on their children through medical technology.

Gay is the new Black...

...and Wanda Sykes is the new gay.

Seems like there was a little bit of confusion about that

Excellent show

I wish that I'd seen this sooner. I'm an officer of a college LGBTI org. We had a whole meeting on activism, with "Gay the Black"/ The "New" Civil Rights Movement being a significant portion. This would have been awesome to show.

Maybe some of your other vids will come in handy.

Great show!  :D
