Neil Patrick Harris in talks to host Emmys
In what should not come as a surprise to anyone, Neil Patrick Harris is in final negotiations to host this year's Emmys telecast, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2009. Variety is reporting that the deal hasn't been finalized as yet, but it makes a lot of sense for CBS (which is hosting the ceremony this year). CBS is also home to NPH's sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which will be moving to the 8:00pm slot on Mondays to anchor the network's comedy programming block. Having Harris installed as Emmys host would amount to an extended promo for the sitcom. Producers of the Emmys are apparently under pressure to increase viewership for the telecast after last year's poorly reviewed ratings disaster, which had hosting duties rotating among five reality show personalities. (I mean, Jeff Probst? Seriously?) It certainly doesn't hurt that NPH got rave reviews for his turn as this year's Tonys host. How much do you want to bet he'll be in the running to host the Oscars next year? None too shabby for a gay boy from Albuquerque!
After the break, some suggestions for other events Neil Patrick Harris might host... 1. The Oscars (obviously) 2. Middle East peace talks 3. The 2012 Presidential Debates (anyone would be better than Charlie Gibson) 4. His own talk show 5. My upcoming birthday party (Neil baby, call me!) Can you think of any other events/occasions that would benefit from Neil Patrick Harris as host? Please share in the comments section.

NEIL FOR POTUS!!!!!!
DOMA and DADT would be over in a flash. ENDA would become law, and "Compulsory Sondheim" classes would be taught in every public school in the country.
Meanwhile -- why can't they GIVE HIM AN EMMY?
Do they have to pry it from Jeremy Piven's "cold dead hands"?
Hopefully it doesn't affect his chances of winning an Emmy.
There were so many obvious reasons to choose Neil as a host - beside promoting HIMYM, he'd also attract a way younger audience to the show.
And he should absolutely get his own talk show eventually. How terrific would that be? I'm sure he'd take late night shows to a new, to date unkown level of entertainment. (Magic!)
But before he hosts anything else, he must get that Emmy. Any decision against his win would seem blaspheming this year.
NPH rules!
