NOM's "I'm Confused" ad — Kids say the darndest things!
Hot off the success of their "Gathering Storm" commercial, National Organization for Marriage (NOM) has released a new spot called "I'm Confused," which is currently airing in New Hampshire. It trots out small children to make a very child-like argument against gay marriage. The ad is so laughably ridiculous that it seems, to my jaded eyes, to actually be counterproductive. In other words, the more frequently it is aired the more support it will generate in support of gay marriage. I hope they run this thing 24/7 in all 50 states. My only concern is: One of the cute little urchin actors used for this vid might just grow up to be gay. In which case, this commercial is going to be a very uncomfortable item to have in his scrapbook slash video reel. The thirty second video and text transcript after the break. Enjoy!

Are these people for real?
NOM seems to be hung up on
Too Typical
You took the words right out of my mouth!
I hate when people think so little of children. Most children are incredibly open-minded because they are taught to hate, they don't naturally do that.
Second, I love how they're just ignoring the millions of children who are products of same-sex unions. These NOM people are acting like the legalisation of gay marriage will be the first way children hear the word "gay". Like families aren't already filled with gay people!
Can't believe the guts of
Can't believe the guts of those people...Using children...
I hope Keith Olberman or Jon Stewart are going to react soon.
How come the government allow that kind of crap on TV? Is this because of the Land of Freedom thing?
Hmmm...
Sounds like great material for the next "WTF? Moment"
Some kids are alright!
This kid does not seem to be confused...

I'm confused
Speaking of child abuse !!
They are confused because
How the ad should have gone...
Goldilocks Boy: Grandma, why is my Mommy forcing me to do a political ad that promotes bigotry and intolerance?
Announcer: Billy, we're not sure why your Mommy is so hateful. But it is pretty obvious that she doesn't love you, since she's using you as a ignorant pawn to promote her evil agenda.
Goldilocks Boy: I guess that's true. But if my Dad married a man, who would be my Mom?
Announcer: Well Billy, the Mom you have right now isn't very good is she?
Goldilocks Boy: Now that you mention it. Yeah, she kinda sucks.
Announcer: Wouldn't you rather have two Dads that would love you unconditionally, and would never whore you out for political purposes?
Goldilocks Boy: You're right, announcer. You taught me a new way of thinking. Marriage equality for all!
Personally I don't like it
Personally I don't like it when either side uses kids but feel its more justified when pro-gay marriage sides do it because they tend to focus on themselves and their families and not 'confusion' and how it will affect society, which is very different. and of course one of the many kids used will be gay though not ness. in this interview and its horrible.
this is so manipulative compared to the little kids in the regina spektor theme vid who just want their parents to be together = v. big diff. Having said that, my favourite slide from it is the teenage boy saying he's glad his dads are married, I'll always prefer using children who look old enough to make their own decisions even though I know somebody with gay parents would be highly highly unlikely to be anti-gay whereas many children disagree with their parents homophobia. this is so exploitative. the last kid was adorable. i feel okay with saying this since he is being manipulated and probably is not actually hateful. how could someone do this for to their kids? no matter how 'concerned' they are for them?
anna and eve, at least thats new to me, i've only heard adam and steve. how idiotic though. even if schools were preaching anna and eve, it wouldn't be INSTEAD of Adam, it would be as well..

Adam & Eve
Lets take a moment to examine the "wholesome" biblical tale of creationism. So Adam and Eve have kids, who then pair off and have kids of their own? Global population by incest?
You're right, get NOW to run their ridiculous ads 24/7 and marriage equity will be a done deal in no time at all.
