IMHO: "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" (2.9) "Hot Nuts"

Griffin is hanging his head in shame on the teaser photo, and my banner above is what I feel like after watching this once sweet show. Find out how it earned the down arrow after the break.

George: “Your sister is a very smart girl.”
Ashley
: “Yeah, she obviously knows how to lay down and roll over.”
Adrian
: “Everyone’s a slut at some point.”
Ruben
: “What are you going to do that doesn’t require getting along with people?”
drian
: “Undertaker?”

That sums up the parts of the show I enjoyed. Essentially, the half the show was about George and Ann dating again, and their daughters not realizing until the end that they’re actually dating each other.

90% of the other half of the show revolved around everyone getting tired of Amy being a selfish brat, and how far each character was willing to go in accommodating her attitude. Ben - too far, Adrian - not at all. The school coach/counselor getting involved in the not-at-all category, suspending her for mouthing off to Adrian and then to him.

The coach finally made Amy stop and think. An actual tear on her cheek.

Ricky trying, right up to the end to make allowances for her so he doesn’t have to fight for access to his son, then realizing lawyers and courts might be easier.

The episode title, Hot Nuts? I still haven’t figured out if that referred to Amy’s emotional state, or Tom getting angry with Jack and aiming an NFL-class spiral pass right at Jack’s…groin. He was still in fetal position hours later, spending the night on Grace’s couch.

They spent some money on the groin shot. America's Funniest Home Videos would be proud.

The show acted like it was trying to reign in some of the more distasteful personality elements that it has strayed into over the past few weeks, and it can’t do it fast enough for my tastes.

Griffin didn’t even show up in this episode, so from the perspective of AfterElton, I don’t even have anything to review, other than continuity. We have two episodes left this season to slog through.

We had a Griffin-shaped hole in the episode.

Next week it looks like a red-headed Rumer Willis guest stars (with her resume, is it considered guest “starring”?), and may give Ben some love he’s not getting from Amy. Ashley also looks up that boy from last week, which may play into her pact with Griffin about swearing off boys. We’ll tune in to see if that means Griffin is free to pursue his admirer as well.

What did you think? Hanging in there still, or am I all alone on Monday nights?

    Could Amy be more disgusting?

It's really bad when I like Adrian at all.

    Adrian never bothered me

I always kind of liked Adrian - I felt she was authentic. Ricky, I fall in and out of like with Ricky.

    Could Amy get

Any less bitter? Nope. So instead she had to get more bitter and dislikable.

I mean really? Her character was already kind of plain but now they decide to spice her up with some bitterness! Ohh! She mouths off to the coach because she didnt know he was a councilor. (Ya know, dont respect them unless you have to. Thats a good lesson) Calls everyone a slut, and every calls eachother a slut cause this highscool is all one big slut fest! *Except for Griffin, which is the only person we wouldnt mind being a little more slutty* And Adrian is kind of likable but she is still a bitch. Way to set a sterotype for the latina culture! And of course Ben is so cute and sweet and good and had some premicous sex he is not telling about but he is still such a great boyfriend and Amy treats him like crap. Immature. I hate her. I hate her! Nah nah nah. Hmm, really? What a great example and moral your setting for people! And goody little grace wont have sex until marriage. Puke. Really? Come on. Not believable what so ever. The only reason I still watch this is. A. Griffin and B. Ashley cause she is funny. And is somewhat likable! The rest is just...ugh. IM so tired of Amy playing the "AHHH My life has always been ruined I have a baby, boo hoo" K we get it, now live up to it. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. T.T Can someone please shoot the writing staff? Or just change the show to the Ashley and Griffin bff show where they all go dating and everyone else dies. ;D Then maybe some of the characters could be a bit more lively then they already are!

    I definitely vote for making

I definitely vote for making it all about Ashley & Griffin.

I liked Amy way back in the very beginning of the show, but now I really can't stand her. And too much craziness has been going on with everybody else lately.

I love Ashley. She makes the show entertaining.
