ABC Relents: Adam Lambert Will Perform on "The View"

I doubt he'll stretch out on the couch of The View like this.

Well, it would be irresponsible to speculate on the "why" of a change in direction from ABC at this point, but it appears that the alphabet network is ready to allow the out rocker back on its airwaves, in daytime, no less. Adam Lambert just tweeted that he will be interviewed and performing on The View December 10.

ABC hasn't put out a release yet, but Adam has - the power of Twitter.

Without a doubt, Adam will likely be watched closely, and it probably goes without saying that he'll sign one of those contracts we've heard about certifying that he won't deviate from his rehearsal. And I doubt we'll ever know whether ABC calmed down, GLAAD got through to them with their third public statement on the matter, or perhaps, Barbara Walters, who is a force to be reckoned with at the network convinced them it was in their best interests for the promotion of her special, The Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009, which will air December 9.

Adam wants to remind you that he's fascinating, too.

One can can never underestimate the value of a little controversy for promotional value. And with any luck, the ladies of The View, who are never shy about anything, will tackle the American Music Awards performance, Pink, Madonna, the cancellations and everything head on.

Update: The Los Angeles Times reports that both Adam's performance and his interview will be pretaped because Adam has a scheduling conflict and cannot be in New York City Thursday, which works out for both parties.
