AfterElton Briefs: Sue Sylvester Puckers Up, "True Blood" Gets a Date, Nepal Will Let You Set a Date, and more!

His qualifications.

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear. Yes, we're serious.

  • Another day, another rumor about Captain America casting. But this rumor I like. Ryan Phillippe is now being talked about as the man to fill out Cap's tights, and I can really see this working out.
  • Kele Okereke of the indie band Bloc Party spoke to BUTT Magazine about coming out to his "super-Catholic" Nigerian parents. He admits to some fear, but says that being honest has made their relationship stronger.
  • Nepal becomes the latest country to go out for the pink dollar, announcing it plans to stage gay weddings at Mt. Everest base camp. The United States is officially less progressive than Nepal.
  • Rev. Robert Carter, the Jesuit priest who came out and founded the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force passed away last month. His obituary makes interesting note of the fact that the Vatican is becoming less accepting of gays within their ranks than they used to be.
Sue Sylvester ramps up the sexual tension.
  • The above picture isn't from Glee, but according to the video below, Sue Sylvester gets her freak on with an upcoming guest star. One has to wonder though - if a lesbian and a gay man make out on screen, does Catholic League's Bill Donahue's head explode like a robot in cartoons presented with a logical fallacy?

  • Out rugby star (and national hero) Gareth Thomas is teaming up with out referee Nigel Owens to support Cardiff Mardis Gras, which will have a focus on sport when the event brings together 40,000 people in September.
  • The disgusting reality show High Society did so poorly in the ratings that it's being bumped back a half hour so that The CW can try out their all-female flight attendant show Fly Girls in the slot instead.
  • From the land of highly questionable and oppotunistic awards, TV Land has decided to award Glee their "Future Classic" award at the upcoming TV Land Awards. Perhaps more confusing is why Everybody Loves Raymond could get something called the "Impact Award." What precise impact did it have?
  • If you remember us writing about the new gay social network Fabulis last month when their bank accounts were mysteriously frozen, you'll love their take on Lady GaGa's "Monster" with the same hot boys that did the "Party In the U.S.A." video from Miley Cyrus last year.

  • Speaking of Lady GaGa, I feel the need to defend my employer: MTV never banned the "Telephone" video, contrary to CNN's reports. MTV had been playing it for two days before CNN came up with the widely copied claim that the video was too racy. Also, see the last item on this page in regards to news.
Reporter: Any chance that you would go straight? (question from a fan)

Lambert: I would ask that same person, is there any chance you would go gay? I mean, it doesn’t really work that way. You don’t just change like that.
  • HBO has announced the return of True Blood June 13 at 9pm. Please plan accordingly, because this promises to be a pretty gay season.
  • Rep. Barney Frank is saying The Advocate misquoted him when they said he claimed that the White House was opposed to repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell this year. I just keep hearing "I am their leader which way did they go?" in my head.
  • Per the Project for Excellence in Journalism, there is no excellence in journalism, and the Fourth Estate (which is a nice restaurant in D.C.) has declined into Fox News to such an extent we may all be doomed.
