AfterElton Briefs: Betty Bowers Preaches, "Glee" Puts Out a Handsome Casting Call, plus Lady GaGa at the Louvre?
Rachel Maddow talks lesbian-themed strip clubs, checking in with a Republican La Cage, plus preview music from Green Day.
Kurt Hummel looking fabulous.
- Betty Bowers America's Best Christian did an interview with Instinct and the whole thing is a total hoot to read, But I especially love how she sums up gay politics in America in just a couple of sentences:
Nevertheless, such attention provides a lovely opportunity to introduce homosexuals to my BASH [Baptists Are Saving Homosexuals] ministry. I want gay men everywhere to know that Jesus touched me. And He can touch you, too. Quicker than you can touch yourself! Indeed, over the past 10 years (with a clarion call, in a chest voice, of "Be a man, girl!"), BASH has raised millions in tithes for my tax-free Christian ministries, helped politically marginalize homosexuals and almost cured close to two men from their addiction to penis. As all Conservative Christians who just happen to hate homosexuals anyway know, being "gay" is just a silly choice, a choice most often made by anti-gay Republicans between the hours of 10 PM and Midnight.
- Speaking of the self-righteous making veiled and not-so-veiled comments, Sarah Palin chose to call out Subaru, sponsor of many GLBT causes including Logo's Legacy Campaign as a "you may be talking to a liberal" jab.
That bumper sticker that maybe you'll see on the next Subaru driving by an Obama bumper sticker you should stop the driver and say, 'So how is that hopey, changey thing working out for ya?
- This week's Sashay Away from RuPaul's Drag Race is a must read, and that's before you even get to the animated GIFs.
- The Glee Nationwide Open Casting Call has begun, and here's hottie teacher Matthew Morrison to tell you all about it.
- Take this with all the salt in the Dead Sea, because the Mirror is quoting OK!, but Lady GaGa wants to do an art exhibition at the Louvre.
- You may have heard that a Texas exhibition of Corpus Christi was canceled due to safety concerns by people who objected to Terrence McNally's reimagining of the Christ story. The school may have had a point, because the police are investigating some of the threats.
- General John Sheehan has finally apologized to the Dutch for blaming their gay soldiers for a Bosnian massacre.
- Rachel Maddow took on the Republican National Committee having disclosed nearly $2,000 in expenses to a lesbian-themed bondage strip club. It's suitably hysterical.

- In our first bit of La Cage Aux Folles news, sexy Cagelle Nick Adams has another diary entry up at The Advocate about the preparation for the show, which seems to be intensely physical.
- New York Mag has a long interview with the star of La Cage, Kelsey Grammer. The man is a Repulican who seems to be entirely oblivious to the world around him. But it's this statement about the show - La Cage, arguably the gayest show on earth that doesn't involve actual gay sex - that really burns me up. I am sick of this talking point:
But La Cage, Grammer explains, is a universal tale. “It’s a great story about any couple. They all have the same dynamic: a heterosexual relationship, a homosexual relationship, a man-with-dogs relationship. There are universal events that take place: the differences, the angers, the insecurities, the histrionics.
- And below you can watch a preview of Green Day's "Last of The American Girls" music video featuring Billie Joe Armstrong. The full video premieres Thursday.
