AfterElton Briefs: Naked Celebrities, Losing Respect for CNN, Crushing Matthew Mitcham, plus Betty White!

Gay theater reviews, Janice Dickinson plans to sing, Adam Lambert to mentor American Idol, and yet more naked celebrities!

Out Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli

  • Today in Britain, they released pictures of a number of stars and athletes with their kits off. I don't understand how Give Up Clothes For Good plans to do about cancer with this, but I can certainly appreciate the gesture. And the fact that two of the male celebrities are out doesn't hurt either! Warning! Tasteful nudity ahead, folks.
Out television presenter Christopher Biggins.
  • I really used to think CNN was somewhere in the middle of the political spectrum, especially compared to MSNBC and Fox News. But they keep having discredited nutjobs on to discuss gay issues, like today when "ex-gay" conversionist Richard Cohen was presented as a psychotherapist (he's not,his license was revoked) to discuss repeal of California's 1950 law to "search for a cure for homosexuality." AfterElton.com obtained a statement from CNN about the segment. And by "statement," I mean lame-ass excuse.
  • I'm on record as being fond of drooling over Gilles Marini on Brothers & Sisters, but I'm a little upset that the producers are considering a "one-year flashforward" for next season so they can establish Sarah and Luc as the show's super couple. What's wrong with having Kevin and Scotty, the ones already with the established relationship, filling that role?
Not on our team, but cricket player James Anderson is tasty.
  • DC Agenda has a great photo gallery of gay Easter celebrations in the nation's capital, from the White House Easter Egg Roll to a bunny-themed bar crawl. I think I spotted a a couple Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in there as well.
  • A few weeks back we mentioned a gay polo tournament taking place in Palm Beach, FL. That event drew over 1,500 spectators from a cross section of the socio-economic strata and is being called a great success.
The Arsenal's Sol Campbell was the only picture I had to crop from the Cancer campaign.
Cherry’s treatment of Sheridan, including his physical assault and battery of her, occurred because he is a homosexual man and she is a heterosexual woman.
  • Looking for Billy Haines is a play about finding a gay identity inside the Hollywood machine, and is based on a quite-real Billy Haines. The play is being somewhat dismissed as fluff by the New York Times, which means I'd likely enjoy it a great deal.
Think these characters are broadly sketched archetypes?
  • Entertainment Weekly (not the Spurf™) confirms what I learned from Adam Lambert's Twitter - he's next week's American Idol mentor as well as the featured performer. Yes, I'll probably live-tweet that - I wonder if he'll pull a reverse-Randy Travis and comment on those not wearing black nail polish?
  • I'm not going to dispute that Janice Dickinson is a trainwreck. But she's a beautiful trainwreck, and I'll always love her a little for J.P. Calderon's coming out. She's sat down with Out for a wide-ranging interview covering everything from Simon Cowell, Pink Satan, and her new music career, which she explains thusly:
The gays need more money. My gays need more money for AIDS and AIDS research. Elton John, pediatric AIDS -- we need to find a cure for AIDS. I’m obsessed. Here’s the deal: I love my daughter, she’s out there, Mother’s Day is coming, Mother’s Day to all you queers, but we need to find more money for AIDS. That is why I decided to do music -- to raise money for AIDS, more research, and the cure for fu**ing AIDS. Thank you.
Here's my credit card - do they come in size "blogger"?
