AfterElton Briefs: Stars Are On Point, Liza Does Beyonce, "Karen: The Musical," plus Kurt's Guide To Style
Happy Birthday Carole Barrowman, goodbye and God bless Dr. Height, Details chats with Craig Lowe, and RuPaul wants you to "Snap Out of It"
Judith Light never misses a GLBT cause. Plus, look at her - she's 61!

- Last night the Point Foundation recognized activist David Mixner in New York City, and honored their scholars. Celebrities including Cheyenne Jackson, Judith Light, Kelly Ripa, Alan Cumming and more showed up and looked fabulous. The Point Foundation is the largest GLBT scholarship fund in the country.

- Details of the Sex and the City 2 soundtrack are leaking out, and yes, there will be unexpected tracks such as Alicia Keys covering Blondie's "Rapture" but nothing caught me off guard like the news that Liza Minnelli is doing a cover of Beyonce's"Single Ladies." That might explain the outfit at the wedding, except I suspect Liza wears a sequined unitard to Whole Foods.
Okay, maybe she adds pants for Whole Foods.

- Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Out interview is available online, and he's just adorable. They asked him if he had to be the "gay advisor" on the show, and his answer made me giggle:
Well, in one episode I end up in Sofia Vergara’s dress because I’ve been sprayed by a skunk, and they were really nervous about putting a gay character in a dress. The writer of the episode had this whole speech written up, like, “Thank you for being a trouper I know that we’re asking a lot of you…” but he put it in his pocket when he came to set and saw me twirling around [between takes].
- It can be a little weird working at AfterElton.com. I woke up to and email sent by editor Michael Jensen in what was the middle of the night for me. He seemed excited about some pictures that John Barrowman was tweeting. I went and looked, hoping for underwear shots. Instead I find John asking for wardrobe help to take his delightful, talented sister out for her birthday.
John, how about neither?

But we do want to wish Carole Barrowman a Happy Birthday - she's been great to us at AfterElton.com

- Craig Lowe was recently elected mayor of Gainesville, Florida in what can only be described as a nasty race that involved signs on church lawns saying "No Homo Mayor." Classy. But at least Gainesville has a mayor to be proud of, judging from this Details interview.
- The Daily Freak Show from World of Wonder attended the premiere party for The Big Gay Sketch Show and was kind enough to share this report with us.
- Details are light, but out musician Matt Morris' song "Live Forever" will e included on the Idol Gives Back special that airs tomorrow night on Fox. Considering the marquee names involved include Sir Elton John and Annie Lennox, tha's not bad for a new artist.
- Entertainment Weekly has Kurt's Guide to Style up, andI have to wonder if this is how Tim Gunn started out.
- Civil rights icon Dr. Dorothy Height passed away today at age 98 of natural causes. During her day, she marched beside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She was president of the National Council of Negro Women for 40 years. And she understood that civil rights were for all, stating at the Human Rights Campaign National Dinner in 1997:
Civil rights are civil rights. There are no persons who are not entitled to their civil rights. … We have to recognize that we have a long way to go, but we have to go that way together."
She loved her hats.

- One major plus of working for Logo is that you get sneak peaks of things like RuPaul's Drag Race finale, like this clip titled "Snap Out Of It." Shhhh! Don't tell them I showed you.
- I must have laughed so hard during The View today with Leslie Jordan's antics that I missed the fact that Leslie was touring with Megan Mullally in Karen: The Musical based on Karen Walker from Will & Grace. I was tweeting quotes like "Well, well, well, Karen Walker. I thought I smelled gin and regret."
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
