AfterElton Briefs: Ricky Martin Gains an Honor, Jason Alexander Strips Down, James Franco the Voyeur, and More!

Plus more on Guillermo Diaz in Pinups, the Outer Critics Awards gay honors, and Daniel Radcliffe speaks up for The Trevor Project. Tim Gunn does not approve of something offscreen.

  • Towleroad sat down with Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend to discuss the effects his coming out had on the band, the fans, and most importantly, how to pronounce his last name. The good news if you want to date is that he grades on a curve on that last one. Here's their video for "Oxford Comma."

  • Kylie Minogue will host amfAR's Gala of Inspiration June 3rd at the New York Public Library. Jean-Paul Gaultier and Ricky Martin will receive the first ever Inspiration Awards.  Speaking of Ricky Martin, he continued his Twitter activism in recognition of International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO), in both Spanish and English.
Over a million people got this message today.
  • You may recall that Seinfeld star Jason Alexander signed up to be a spokesman for Jenny Craig. He's now lost 30 lbs, and rather than a traditional bikini for his commercial, he does a full Broadway number with him and a lot of hot dancers in spandex that they rip off in the finale and toss at Valerie Bertanelli's face. You really just have to go watch.
  • Fresh from the unusual world of James Franco, he showed up at a birthday party for Campari in New York where performer Kalup Linzy was onstage singing in a gold lame wetsuit. Part way through the act, he mounted the stage and sat in a red velour chair behind Kalup and proceeded to stare directly at the performer's shapely rear end as he sang torch songs about men. Anyone with video is asked to contact the editor.
  • The Jim Owles Democratic Club met to honor Broadway stars Bobby Steggert and Patrick Heusinger, along with civil rights attorney Yetta Kurland.

  • The Outer Critics Awards are often used as indicators for the Tony Awards. Gay interest winners this year include four awards each for Memphis and La Cage Aux Folles, while Levi Kreis picked up the Featured Actor Award for Million Dollar Quartet.
  • We covered the fact that Daniel Radcliffe had made a PSA for The Trevor Project many months ago, as well as making a large donation. The Trevor Project has released the finished version of the ad and don't things just sound better with a British accent? Oh - and to quote Dumbledore "Well done, Harry, well done!"

  • Finally, a rough draft of an interview with True Blood's Dennis O'Hare is out, and he tells us just how old the Vampire King of Mississippi is (hint: Godric was a baby compared to this vampire), how long he's had his boyfriend (I don't want to think about what that is in "gay years"), and how the role has been fleshed out from the books (it wasn't much there, and now the gay power-player is a series regular).

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
