AfterElton Briefs: Chris Colfer Hits Interview Circuit, Annie Lennox Reaches Out, and "RuPaul's Drag Race" Tour Video
Plus Rampage Jackson says lighten up, Ronnie Kroell is the leader, and lesbians raise great kids.
It changes everything! Why I bet we can even get married in Texas now!
- A new iPhone was announced today and it makes it makes your old iPhone an antique.!You must give Steve Jobs your credit card number immediately, or your social life is over. Seriously though, it's pretty cool. It's thinner, with a better screen and camera, shoots HD video, and does video calling good enough to have American Beauty's Sam Mendes make a commercial about how cool the video calling is. And AT&T is allowing early upgrades.
- Basically, we're all dopamine addicts. And all this constant media is making it worse. On average, we consume 3x the information in a given day than someone in 1960 would have. I think I'm closer to 10x, but it's my job. We change windows 37 times every hour, and pull in 12 hours of media a day. Oh, and it's also killing the film industry.
- Ronnie Kroell of Bravo's Make Me a Supermodel and soon Playgirl joins Laverne Cox and Alexis Arquette as Celebrity Grand Marshalls of Boston Pride this year.
- 24's Cherry Jones has pulled herself from Emmy contention after deciding that her role on the show's last season didn't warrant it. Even the show's producers said "There was some other mid-season purpose for [Jones], but I can’t remember. But even in the beginning, I told her I didn’t have much of a part for her."
- Last week, we mentioned that Annie Lennox had been named a U.N. Global AIDS Ambassador. Today she sits down with CNN's Ali Velshi to discuss what that work means to her and how she feels she can make a difference.
- Glee's Chris Colfer did an extensive interview with The AV Club about his character, his life, and working with Mike O'Malley as his TV dad. In a section that stunned me, he talks about the scene with Kurt, Burt and Finn that raised so much discussion on this site:
You know, I had no idea that scene was going to be that emotional until we were in it, until we started filming it. And I think when I realized “This is going to be one of the first times on television that a father defends his gay son,” I think that’s what brought the emotion out in me, just realizing that. I mean, when Kurt does so much as a hand gesture, I hear about how important it is to so many people out there. So thinking how much this scene would help and affect people out there, that’s just what brought the emotion for me.
- We'd also like to mention that we got late word that Chris Colfer is going to be on tonight's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I'm hoping for a 6bee spoof or something like Jimmy did with Robert Pattinson when he visited.
- Glee's Matthew Morrison is still writing his solo musical debut, but he's aware he has a lot of admirers.
This woman came up to me and said, `I'm not old enough to be a cougar, but I'm a puma.' I get a lot of that. I get a lot of gay guys. I think `Glee' is one of the gayest shows on TV.
- The folks at World of Wonder caught up with RuPaul's Drag Race on tour in WeHo, and sent over these interviews by the fabulous Damiana Garcia (whose accent I adore), and it finishes with some of the performances.
- Rampage Jackson thinks all us gays are making him out to be a villain for that homophobic stuff he said about us. We should "LIGHTEN THE F*** UP!" You have to register to read the whole thing, but he's not helping. And I'm still boycotting A-Team because of him.
Only reason why I got a bad report from it was because this guy who was making fun of me and has been my friend on set for about four months (time spent working on the movie) and was gay for real and the reporter being the type of guy he is chose to make THAT his story not knowing that the guy and I were only shit talking like we did everyday.
- Contrary to everything the American Family Association likes to make up about us 'mos, a 25-year study show that children of lesbians have fewer behavioral problems than their peers.
- Brian Paddick, out former British police officer and contestant on I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here is a name being bandied about for a peerage in the new UK government. I'm a little unclear on the details, but it seems they have to balance representation in the upper house to match recent elections, even though none of the Labour peers can be removed. Eventually, won't there be thousands of peers?
- I tried to resist running this cover from Vermont Catholic magazine. Did I mention the diocese just shelled out millions in sexual abuse settlements? Who thought this was a good idea?
The jokes write themselves.

- This look inside the writers room of many different series caught my eye because woman-we-love Jane Espenson is one of the power-writer/producers they talk to. And what gets me about her contributions is that she seems so not fussy about her environment, like the seedier the location the better. She seems like a heck-of-a-broad, in the best possible meaning of that phrase.
