AfterElton Briefs: Vanessa Williams Honored, One New "Glee" Character Confirmed, and Is Coming Out Getting Easier?
Plus vampires find Tom Ford timeless, Mike Huckabee is homophobic and sexist at once, and Jaleel White is not gay (but he has a DVD set!).
Both sides of Adam Lambert's new haircut.
- Last night at the MuchMusic Awards in Toronto, it was mostly tweens like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus winning awards, but Adam Lambert took home the trophy for UR Fav International Video. That entire sentence, down to spelling, makes me feel very old. Get off my lawn!!!
- At Trevor NY on June 28th, the Trevor Project will be honoring Vanessa Williams and Macy's department store for their activism. Special performance by Jason Mraz, and celebrity guests including Dustin Lance Black, Marc Consuelos, Ardin Myrin, Ana Ortiz and Kelly Ripa. There are still tables available for the event.
- Last month we reported that Filipino singing sensation Charice was joining Glee, which Charice then denied via Twitter. Today, according to the Spurf™ Charice is indeed joining the cast, and brings some serious pipes to the show. Pipes that will drive Rachel (Lea Michele) to insane heights of jealousy.
- Theo Alexander reveals his 700 year love affair with Russell Eddington (Denis O'Hare), as well as his fashion inspiration being Tom Ford. Which you probably understood from his heavage.
I wonder if he just has the upper buttons left off his shirts?

- In other True Blood news, barring any stakes or tanning beds, Talbot and Russell could be around a while, because HBO just gave the renewal for a fourth season of True Blood.
- Dutch music festival Parkpop banned Snoop Dog and has replaced him with anti-gay, murder music Beenie Man. The change was made to preserve an "open and friendly atmosphere."
- Tim Gunn's new book, Tim Gunn's Golden Rules reportedly takes swipes at Vogue forces-of-nature Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley. Discussing Wintour's appearance at Peter Som's 2006 fashion show at the Metropolitan Pavilion:
I was with a colleague from Parsons, and we had been discussing the will-she-or-won't-she-take-the-elevator question, so we ran over to the elevator bay to see if Anna would deign to get on. She wasn't there. Then we looked over the stairway railing. And what did we see but Anna being carried down the stairs. The bodyguards had made a fireman's lock and were racing her from landing to landing. She was sitting on their crossed arms.
- boyculture gives us a view of Broadway Bares XX from the floor, which provides some very interesting angles on the dancers. Meanwhile, our friends at Broadwayworld.com take us backstage with the dancers. The "Hotel" crew is particularly eye opening.

- Conservative blowhard Mike Huckabee might believe in gay marriage if his only other choices were Speaker Nancy Pelosi or Helen Thomas. Like the gays or those ladies would have you.
- The Gotham Knights gay rugby team captured the Bingham Cup by defeating the Sydney Convicts. That's great, but what I really want is pictures from the after party.
- Family Matters star Jaleel White denies any rumors that he's gay in a radio interview coinciding with the DVD release of Family Matters. Well played, sir.
- More than 150 people showed up at a rally against the two Marines in the gay bashing in that city last week. The Marines are currently facing only misdemeanor assault charges.
- Last week on the NewNowNext Awards my favorite bit was Cheyenne Jackson with the Grindr-like app on his iPhone. They really sold it, and the "I thought that tasted like you" was the best line of the night.
- CBS, the network without a single gay character on their scripted programming, asks "Is coming out getting easy?"
- Sir Elton John continues to "build bridges" by playing a concert in Israel. Artists such as The Pixies and Elvis Costello have canceled their concerts since the raid on the Gaza aid ship.
- Constance McMillen, who didn't get to attend her prom, does get to attend the White House GLBT Pride reception tomorrow. Which is better than HRC's Joe Solmonese managed for the reception.
- BUTT Magazine has launched a ling of beach towels with your favorite models in partnership with American Apparel. The link takes you to NY Mag, so it's not too racy, but once you get into their slideshow, it is NSFW.
A sample of their wares.
