AfterElton Briefs: Adam Lambert Gets Dressed, McFly Gets Undressed and James Franco's Extended Adolescence

Plus Glee strikes a new Chord, Margaret Cho hugs Big Bird, and gay tangos in Argentina.

British boy band McFly from this month's Attitude

  • At the top is a photo from the extensive photoshoot and interview McFly did for UK gay mag Attitude in support of their new album. Most of it wasn't safe for us to print, and even the top image is cropped ever-so-slightly on the left. You can buy digital copies here. I don't know about you, but I feel cheated by the Backstreet Boys right now - what is it with Brit male celebs getting their kit off for gay magazines?
  • Glee has cast relative newcomer Chord Overstreet as as a potential protégé for Finn who becomes his rival. This has caused wild speculation that he is also destined to be Kurt's boyfriend, which Fox didn't even hint at with the casting notice. He's also hired as "recurring" and not as regular cast, which doesn't fit Ryan Murphy's original description, but who knows? Chord's previous roles include having Miranda Cosgrove spit into his eye on an episode of iCarly.
  • Perez Hilton is profiled about his influence on the music world, his work habits, and if anything is off limits to him. h/t Cathy.In.Canada
  • Now to cleanse that from my brain, I present gay goddess Margaret Cho on Sesame Street (video posted last week) discussing emotions with Big Bird. I notice they made her cover her tattoos.

  • The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino at Shakespeare In the Park, will transfer to Broadway. As the New York Times notes, sadly, Jesse Tyler Ferguson will have to return to his day job on Modern Family instead. Which is only right, because New York can't keep him all to their selves!
  • The new Scott Pilgrim vs. the World trailer entitled "Finish Him" ends with Wallace demonstrating bloodlust while sharing a bed with Mobile, who we had noted before as Wallace's not platonic friend. Reader kuhnsy identified him as Mobile for me this morning, as says he's a loose fixture in Wallace's love life up to book five, where he becomes more permanent.

  • In California, Sonoma County gave a $600,000 settlement to the partner of a gay man who died after having been forcibly separated and their joint estate sold off before they were placed in separate nursing homes. The county admits no wrongdoing, but wants to avoid the expense of a trial.
  • Angelina Jolie opened Salt in a healthy #2 slot to Inception, and she sat down with Logo to talk about the movie, her stunts, drag, Liev Schreiber, and more.

  • ET went behind the scenes at a new fashion shoot for Adam Lambert as he tried on new looks for his Glamnation tour. Some of them are a bit pointy, I'd injure myself wearing them.

  • This profile of Justin Spring's Secret Historian: The Life and Times of Samuel Steward, Professor, Tattoo Artist and Sexual Renegade discusses the meticulous detail of the man who documented his sexual partners including Rock Hudson and Thorton Wilder.
  • If you think we forgot True Blood in our coverage of Comic-Con, don't worry - the trailer for the second half of the season is right here, and it starts with Lafayette, and ends with crazy.
