Adam Lambert's Plum Premiere, Lady GaGa's Tour, Gus Van Sant's New Project, Gays In Space, and more

AfterElton is not implying that Zac is a member of the undead army.

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Because out hottie sex columnist Dan Savage thinks you need to know: In case of the zombie apocalypse, it is not cool to have sex with zombie Zac Efron, pictured above in his pre-zombie state. And knowing is half the battle.
  • Adam Lambert gets plum spot to premiere his music video from 2012 prior to showings of Michael Jackson's This Is It. If only there was a television channel dedicated to playing music videos...
  • Showtime has greenlit a pilot for the U.S. version of Shameless with William H. Macy in the lead, and set in present day Chicago. Casting ideas for gay teen Ian? Or my personal favorite, Mickey?
Buy a bear, benefit the Matthew Shepard Foundation
  • Adorable Teddy Bears like the one above have been signed by stars suchs as Jane Lynch, Cheyenne Jackson, Meryl Streep and Dustin Lance Black and are being auctioned off to benefit the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Top bid is for the bear signed by Barbra Streisand, currently going for double the bid for a whole basket full of bears signed by the Twilight cast.
  • Last week we reported that out director Gregg Araki had added Thomas Dekker to the cast of his new film Kaboom. A recast might be in order, as Dekker has been arrested for suspicion of DUI and possibly running down a cyclist.

  • Above, Joy Behar continues her week long tribute to the gays with Barney Frank discussing what he meant by his remarks concerning the National Equality March.
  • Star Trek: Phase Two, has announced a release date for Blood and Fire Part II of November 20, 2009. This should conclude the story of our gay Ensign Kirk, hopefully in a heroic fashion.

  • Sir Ian McKellen announced he has filmed an introductory video for new out bisexual Mika's upcoming tour. In absence of that video, enjoy the music video for Mika's single "Golden".
  • Those Muslim footballers who refused to play the gay team, then said they'd play the gay team, then said they would not play the gay team, have been kicked out of the soccer league involved.
  • Bret Easton Ellis and Gus Van Sant are collaborating on a new screenplay about a suicide taken from an article in Vanity Fair. And no, it's evidently not a short film.
  • People who have seen the October 29 edition of Rolling Stone are reporting that Glee gets a scathing review, calling the show "punish-the-outside-world gay" - sounds like somebody needs a nap.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!

    This guy?

"This guy" needs a name.  Actually, come to think of it, all your "this guy" need names.  Us readers are curious, at least I am.

Also, out of curiosity, ever get mistaken that you're looking at porn when searching for your brief's guy?

    this guy is nice

but what happened to the other guy that was just there?
    Ed Kennedy's picture

    Too far...

I may have gone too far with the first guy. snicks and I have been one-upping each other for weeks, and I found a boundary, so we needed to make an edit.

As for Android's comment, above - I often don't have names for what I find, because they're pushing underwear or sports equipment, and not the model. In this case, I know that the current model was labeled as Matthew Born.

I second that! You got me curious.

    this guy

I know that the whole idea of the briefs guy is objectifying, and in someways might be construed as mocking objectification, but some of us actually have a tendency to idolize the people we objectify. I for one would like to see a name when available (so I know who I am stalking) or a nod to where the image came from. Like "This guy who was caught selling Ginch Gonch", or "this guy who will do anything for Adidas."

Being out is not "being an activist." It is being honest. Unfortunately it's such a rare commodity in this world that honesty often seems like activism.

    Yes you did win

i have to be honest i never really give the guys on this alot of my time, but this last one i even know the pants he was wearing.

    Oh jeez, Ed...

    Maybe...

Maybe I'm the only one, but really don't "get" why Dan Savage's columns are so popular. Even some of my straight male friends swear by them.

I just find them to be both excessively lewd (even for a sex column), while at the same time subtly propagating the perspective that members of the LGBT community should settle down into the traditional emotional power-structures of long-term monogamous relationships. I've only read a few of his columns, so I could be reading too much into certain pieces of advice.

That having been said, he does have his perks. He's incredibly trans-friendly and inclusive, which is something too many LGBT figureheads ignore. He is great whenever I see him talking on Real Time or in cable news interviews, etc.

Plus, he is definitely right about a zombie Zac Efron. Zac relies way too much on makeup and lighting to be an attractive zombie. Zombie Gerard Butler, now there's a zombie that could make it work.

Gee, I don't get that at all

Gee, I don't get that at all from any of Savage's writings. He's always been open that he and his boyfriend (he doesn't like the term partner) are not monogamous. He's also written about how he's been blasted for not being "PC" enough to adopt a child because he's not a good "role" model for gay parenting.

I've read the Rolling Stone piece on GLEE

and it's highly favorable. It's entitled "Gayest. Show. Ever" and says "There's no attempt to say, 'Hey America, give us a try and you might like us." The attitude is more like 'We are  the monsters you created, America, and now you shall taste our vengeance.' "

    I'm down with that.

    Shameless Remake

I know this question must have been asked in the past but why do US networks constantly feel the need to make new versions of british TV shows?  Don't they think that their audiences will 'get' it?  Are our accents really that incomprehensible?  As far as I'm aware the BBC aren't planning True Blood set in Portsmouth.  We don't have Desperate Housewives in Huddersfield or The Sopranos set in Milton Keynes!  Maybe there is a valid reason for these remakes, can anyone enlighten me as to what it is?

    There Isn't

Sorry to say it mate, but there most probably isn't any reason. I WOULD have suggested that the networks thought they could re-do it better, but not even they are that stupid. Are they?!

No. Sorry to say, I think the only reason is that the networks underestimate the American populous in thinking that the won't 'get' the sheer brilliance of British comedy. Which is sad, since I think Brit-comedy is far superior in many ways. For instance, I can't think of any American comedy that has made me laugh as much as the brilliant Brit-comedy 'The IT Crowd.'

This seems to be just another case of a network just not really knowing its viewers all that well.

    Maybe because

No one in their right minds would set something in Milton Keynes! :-P

Dan Savage has nothing to worry about

I have no desire to sleep with Efron. I think he's just to bland and generic.

Hmmmm, on second thought his becoming a zombie would make him a little more interesting. :-P

    I don't get it either

Well said. I've never really understood the fascination with Zac Efron. Maybe I'm just biased because I like my men big and rough, but Zac's just... MEH.

Now if Gerard Butler or Hugh Jackman went over to the undead persuasion... ;)

    More Blarney from Barney

The marchers in Washington are bound to have a greater impact on gay rights than Congressman Frank has had in his twenty-plus years on Capitol Hill.  How does he still manage to get his foot so far into his mouth at his age?  Must be all those Flinstone vitamins.

    "The mountain has wings."
