Afternoon Meme: The Morgan Freeman Olympics, Blessed Are the Baby Elephants, and Kylie's Still Hot

Kathy Griffin makes her guest appearance on Law and Order: SVU next week, and frankly, it might be enough to make me watch that old show. Here she is putting on her best beyotch, and let's face it, Kathy's worst beyotch is still pretty good.

Joe.My.God and Dan Savage point us to the tourism ad least likely to make men want to visit Israel. I'm sure it's a lovely country, but this is not the way to inspire me to go.

Morgan Freeman has had more airtime during the Olympics than the athletes and the announcers combined.

I was unaware that dogs had an issue with the Law & Order theme song.  Rachel Maddow attempts to get to the bottom of the weird conspiracy theories about what upsets the pups, whether it's the sound of a ball bouncing or something we can't hear (I find that unlikely, television speakers have a limited range).

A couple weeks ago, we featured pictures of the Melbourne Zoo's new baby elephant. Now the elephant has a name, and the ceremony to bestow the name was blessed by monks with holy water. Baby elephants are surprisingly adorable.

I haven't seen this report hit any of the other blogs about the anti-gay violence in South Africa, the most progressive country on the entire continent. CNN seems to slipped it by us. This is just terrible.

CollegeHumor.com says what we all know - there's no amount of profiling, body scanning and searching that's going to keep the next creative bomber off our airplanes. This will work just as well as anything.

The Annoying Orange is back, and he's got other produce to talk to, and one of them is a juicehead. Don't people (and fruit) know that never ends well?

Kris Allen visited Haiti for the American Idol Gives back Foundation, and while it's fun to watch him make music with the kids, the best part of the interview is when he admits nothing he did as part of the cleanup effort down there made any difference, but showing it to all of us would. Humility and realism in a celebrity is endearing - plus he's not half bad to look at.

In this animated short, Border, Lt. Lou meets an angry traffic light protecting a border. The solution is pretty cool, but I'm not entirely sure why he had it in his pocket. Plus, there's a really cool Douglas Adams shoutout.

Kylie Minogue takes us behind-the-scenes at her cover shoot for Elle U.K. The girl has still got it.
