Afternoon Meme: Adam, Clay, and DanRad Do Good, Dancing In Ski Boots, plus Mardis Gras and Bull Dogs

This work week seems to be starting off with word of a lot of celebrities doing good. What a change from the regular of celebrities behaving badly, though possibly not nearly as interesting.

The oldest clip has been run everywhere, but as I've said everywhere on social media, it deserves a second look. Daniel Radcliffe has recorded a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the Trevor Project, the national GLBT suicide prevention hotline. And then he's been doing press for the PSA to raise the profile of this great organization. What impresses me most about all of this is that DanRad doesn't have a movie to promote - too often we only see celebrities doing good if they have a project. This seems to just be a genuine interest in the issue.

Pam's House Blend has provided exceptional coverage of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Gala Dinner in North Carolina, and you should head over there for the details. But where it intersects with our interests is Clay Aiken getting up on stage and speaking about coming out.

Adam Lambert has been really active with DonorsChoose.org, which allows small needs to be funded by individual gifts. His focus has been unsurprisingly on music education. He just showed up with composition books for a music class. If the kids seem nonplussed, it was because this wasn't a surprise.

For fun, I finally caught The Penguins of Madagascar: Dr. Blowhole's Revenge on Nick. I'm bringing this up because everywhere man Neil Patrick Harris voices the evil Dr. Blowhole, who is a cyborg dolphin with a taste for really cool electronics. This clip is great, but it doesn't have him saying "Pen-goo-yins" like he does several times in the cartoon, which was my favorite part. You can catch the full version on endless repeat on Nickelodeon.

I really want to pause here and note how significant that NPH shows up on kid's shows all the time, be it a voice here, or Batman: The Brave and the Bold or on Sesame Street. There was a time not so long ago that an openly gay actor - heck, he's the poster boy for openly gay actors - wouldn't have been allowed near children's programming, much less be heavily promoted and sought after for it.

Note: To keep the clip from autoplaying, clicking the image will pop up a new window with the clip.

We're going to insert a special Audio Meme moment in the middle. Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family tweeted out this fan song tribute to the show, and it's got a few moments of humor. We present "(I Want A) Modern Family" by Zack Selwyn.

For a little humor, we have this glass door moment that should be a commercial for Windex.

I had no idea there was an alternative to the Westminster Dog Show for cat owners. And there's a documentary about the whole thing. Cat ladies of the world rejoice!

In other trailers, we have this clip from Demi Moore, David Ducovny, and Ben Hollingsworth's new movie The Joneses. I like the concept - we've been 'keeping up with the Joneses" for years, but in a modern society, what if a marketing company decided to plant real-life Joneses in an upscale community to get us to start keeping up? What I could have done without was the tired trope of the gay hairdresser lusting after her husband instead of the sexy cell phone she wanted him to care about.

I love when real life gets a teaser trailer, and that's the case for Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardis Gras, the biggest party in the world. And this is the official event trailer, that I suppose I should have run before the event, but if you run to the airport right now, you can still catch some of the events.

Also happening in Sydney, 5000 naked people posed on the steps of the iconic Sydney Opera house for photographer Spencer Tunick. It's been years since I stood on those steps (fully clothed), but I don't recall that being a smooth comfortable surface, so I'm betting on a bunch of scrapes.

Having viewed that, I'm now curious - how many of you would strip down for public art like this? It's hardly the first time he's done a mass nude photo - I remember his time in Miami Beach. Would you participate?

The Olympics might be over, but we can still look at the athletes. In this case CNN reports that Michael Jackson tributes were all the rage, with ski teams from Norway and France staging three separate dance tributes to the King of Pop.

Robert Pattinson just wants to talk about his new movie, Remember Me, but all anyone wants to ask him about is Twilight. Is this going to become like Star Wars was for Mark Hamil, something he's never going to get away from?

I have no idea why, but urinal etiquette has become a hot topic lately for reasons unknown - it just keeps popping up. Even Glee stars are tweeting out diagrams of acceptable behavior. So when I found this cartoon, I put my straight-guy shields up. Oddly, I needn't have bothered, because this is both subtle and funny. You see a new joke every time you watch it.

Can't afford your gym membership anymore? Borrow the neighborhood kids and work out with them - they seem to enjoy it. Oddly, this is commissioned comedy, which means someone thought of it and hired people to perform it. They have good taste though - the bearded guy is hot.

And borrowing from The Bonnie Hunt Show, we'll close with her Feel-Good Moment of the Day, in this case sleeping bulldogs. Bulldogs have all sorts of issues, yet remain adorable. How can I learn to pull that off?
