Afternoon Meme: "The Kids Are All Right," Goodbye "Phillip Morris," "Eureka" Gets Its Geek, and True Blood Splattered Everywhere
Ken's Dream House, Fallon's Glee Club, David Blue remains adorable in space, science experiments after dark, and Ricky Martin is gay and exploited.

On Wednesday we shared with you the smoking hot Attitude cover with Danny Young on the cover.
Originally it was supposed to go to hottie cage fighter Alex Reid until his wife Katie Price,
famous for being famous, threw a fit on the set about him dropping trou. First
she turned Peter Andre into an
Oompa-Loompa, now this.
I’ve found this slideshow of remakes that nobody saw coming – and if it’s true, some of this I didn’t see coming. Sure, we all knew about Dune and Red Sonja, but I admit to being knocked off my feet by news of Real Genius, which featured Val Kilmer back when he was adorkable.
Today in weird lawsuits, a 16-year-old
is suing his mother for posting to his Facebook account and changing
his password. The twist is that his grandmother has custody, so i
t’s unclear
that his mother has the legal right to monitor or control her son.
Proof that Hugh Hefner still has great eyesight and no signs of dementia, he’s vehemently opposed to Kate Gosselin ever appearing in Playboy.
Is Alice Eve, from She’s Out of Your League the front runner to play Chris Evans’ girlfriend in the Captain America franchise? She better keep her hands off my man!
I Love You Phillip Morris,
playing to good box office in Europe, has been shelved indefinitely
in
the United States and will not hit theaters at the end of the month as planned.
No word on whether it was the gay content, or perhaps the recent relationship
explosion for Jim Carrey that caused
it.
boyculture alerts us to a revival of The Boys in the Band in Los Angeles starring Darryl Stephens running through mid-May, with proceeds benefiting the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.
Eureka is getting its geek on, casting Wil Wheaton as a guest star, and Battlestar Galactica’s James Callis for the season. But they still have some geek icons they want to get, including a certain Browncoat.
In Colorado, they’ve proven that dogs are better than cats by electing Sprite, the three-legged dog, mayor of Divide over his opponent Walter, a three-legged tabby.
This video by uber-brain Dr. Hans Rosling uses Legos to explain how
the world is going to change over the next 50 years in a straightforward, simple,
and humbling manner. Plus it has brightly colored blocks, so it kept my
attention.
As we all know, I love seeing things explode, so I’m wishing
I was in Texas to see them demolish Texas Stadium this weekend. Besides
seeing something big collapse with a boom, it’s also the end of a football era
in Texas, where football is more important than anything except hating folks.

The Addams Family starring Nathan Lane has opened on Broadway to dreadful reviews from the critics, and raves from the audiences of mere mortals who buy their own tickets. I admit, when I saw a musical number on David Letterman, I was hooked. Sure, it’s not high drama, but can’t we all have fun every once in a while?
Moderation means drinking enough to dance, but …”
Please, please let Gossip Girl kill Little J and give her screentime to Eric and his new beau.
Puppy understands that it's Friday, but isn't it a bit early for a cocktail?
Yes, a bunch of stills from the new season of True Blood have been released, and it truly is a gay old time, with the King of Mississippi Russell Eddington (horse) and his favored lover of 700 years Talbot. They are regal, they're sexy, and if memory holds true to the books, they're not terribly nice to Vampire Bill. Oh - and did I mention their home was kind of a gay vampire sex club in the books?
Thank heaven for pay cable channels.
But as we drool over our sexy gay vampires, let's not forgot the original True Blood gay, Lafayette, who has kicked butt and taken names for two seasons, even though according to the books, he's supposed to be dead. And not dead like vampires, dead-dead.
He's kind of got a "I'll cut a beyotch" look going on.
Speaking of True Blood, I know I teased the third cover of Details, but they released the full photoshoot, so here's Stephen Moyer's cover photo without the text, plus a bonus shot of Jason Stackhouse.
Too many clothes. For shame!
A mere four days after Ricky Martin came out as gay to the world, a South African makeup company had this ad out to appeal to his distraught female fans.
Mascara doesn't run, even when your crush likes boys.
Why am I fascinated with hedgehogs? Do they make good pets?
Now that I Love You Phillip Morris is delayed indefinitely, the gay-themed movie I'm most interested in seeing is The Kids Are All Right, with Annette Bening and Julianne Moore playing a lesbian couple with two kids from the same sperm donor. Their teenage daughter contacts the donor, and Mark Rufalo drops into their lives. It's fun, flirty, and a great example of a family. I really do love the scene in which they compare daytime drinking to being a control freak.
Sex and the City 2 released a trailer overnight, and I'm going to be run out of town for this, but frankly, this just looks awful. I mean, seriously, seriously awful. Plus, who knew you could airbrush video like this?
Toy Story 3 released another clip about the arrival in the day care center, and it has an extended scene of when Ken meets Barbie. I'm really fascinated to see how they play this out. Plus, an elephant sneezes, and we all know how I feel about that.
Jimmy Fallon is at his best with skits, so I was determined to find this clip from last night that had a Glee parody. When it was on television, I literally caught the last 4 seconds of it with the modified logo, which was inspired in and of itself. But the whole nine-minute clip, well, it's just like Michael Jensen said in his BGWE column: it drags for plot, but then it gets to the musical number and you don't care. They just sell it.
The adorable David Blue features heavily in the preview for tonight's Stargate: Universe. Is anyone else disappointed it doesn't look like he's going to make it back to Ugly Betty next week and make an honest man out of Marc?
I couldn't begin to describe this short film if I wanted to. The creator says this:
Robert Morgan’s semi-stop-motion short, The Cat With Hands, tells the story of a decidedly creepy cat with human hands who meets a young boy and promptly rips his face off to wear as his own.
Then things get weird.

Last night, I obviously couldn't sleep, because I was watching Jimmy Kimmel Live, and he had the nerve to be interesting. What are the odds? He had Science Bob Pflugfelder on doing experiments, and generally wrecking the set. Watch the oxygen volcanos.
And see what he can do with an entire prop department and too many mousetraps. Also, Jimmy throws like a three-year-old me. And an adult me.
Finally, we have an ice skating chimpanzee. If you're wondering why, Lee Unkrich, the director of Toy Story 3, has an unreasonable fascination with chimps, and does "Chimp Fridays." Before someone calls PETA, this video is from 1962, so it predates the organization by more than a few years.
A CHIMP SKATES
Have a great weekend, folks - and fan us on Facebook, where I post things I find over the weekend and can't post to the main site without supervision. It's me, unfiltered!
