Afternoon Meme: Grace Jones Makes a Statement, 24 Hours At Walmart, and Covering Thor.

Alex Pettyfer upgrades, reviewing The Human Centipede, Arizona does it again, plus Broadway performances from American Idiot and Hair.

At the risk of igniting another war between the fans of Grace Jones and Lady Gaga, one does have to admit that Grace knows how to make an entrance. And has known it for 40 years.

In an unexpected move, Hawaii has sent a civil unions bill to the desk of the governor for signature. It’s unknown if the outgoing governor will sign or veto the bill, but she has 45 days to decide.

Iron Man 2 has already opened strong overseas. So strong in fact that people are predicting the three day box office here in the U.S. will rack up $155 million, even without higher 3D ticket prices.

When Gizmodo got the iPhone 4G, they actually wrote the guy who found it a check. Now like any overhyped story, it’s become a meme, “What would Nick Denton pay …”

Oh, Arizona. You keep finding ways to make Texas State government look like a bunch of pansy liberals.

Scientists have discovered a “cuddle hormone” that can be taken as a nasal spray to make men as empathetic as women.

Out director Adam Shankman wants to direct Oz, The Great and Powerful so badly that he's taken to Twitter to gather a chorus of people who want him to get the job. It's like a tacky, immature cheer squad. Hey! Maybe he can make a movie about that.

That video with the soldiers doing “the hotness” version of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video? The soldiers have been tracked down and publicly shamed. You can all move on to the next big thing.

The Human Centipede has to be the most disgusting concept for a movie I’ve ever seen. That said, it is original. Or so says the poor sap the New York Times sent to review it after their top two critics refused to see it.

Today’s Stories from the Frontline is from former Captain Rebecca Elliott, who commanded a gay NCO during the first Gulf War and didn’t find him to be a problem for unit cohesion. We continue to chip away at the outdated beliefs of people like Senator John McCain.

SkyTV has a new documentary set to debut about two men’s coming out experiences, which will follow them as it happens. One is 24-year-old Ahmad, who is Muslim and has been living openly, but has never told his devout family. The other is 55-year-old Neil who has spent his entire life in the closet out of fear. This could either be brilliant or really awful when I’m Coming Out airs May 24th.

We mentioned hottie Alex Pettyfer had signed up for I Am Number Four, about aliens taking refuge on earth and being hunted to extinction. Now we find out that Dianna Agron has taken the role of the human who befriends him. I see this as an upgrade from his last leading lady, Vanessa Hudgens.

We’d like to wish a happy birthday to Joe.My.God, as his blog turns six years young today.

When it was announced that Chris Hemsworth was going to play Thor, I was pretty happy, because he's a sexy guy (left). The first picture of him in costume disappoints. Can't we make our comic book heroes sexy without alienating the fanboys?

Thor's arms aren't covered for most comic art. I have ski clothes less modest.

This wasn't from a movie. How harsh is this?

Show this to Hollywood, and someone will license it for a movie franchise.

This is from the AfterElton.com break room - think the boss wants our suggestions?

I would pay to watch this.

Nope - he never had any work done.

Is it stalking something, or trying to escape?

If you ever had any doubt about American consumerism or a herd mentality, this time lapse video taken at a Walmart checkout will convince you. It may slow, but it never stops.

We posted an interview with Declan Bennett of the musical American Idiot this morning, now we've got the video of the show from Broadway Week on Live with Regis and Kelly.

Last night Jimmy Fallon and the smoking hot Ed Burns drank beer and played a game called Skittles. When I found out there was no candy, I was sad. But since there's drinking, I might forgive it.

And we may as well show you Hair's performance from Live with Regis & Kelly this week, if only for the backstage footage of Ace Young, whose body turns out to be amazing.
