Afternoon Meme: "Prince of Persia" Fails To Find Treasure, Jason Mraz Has Milk, and Britney's Number One!
Plus E! crowns the last "real man" in Hollywood, Male Bonding takes a surprising turn, and we take a peek behind-the-scenes at Ronnie Kroell's shoot for Playgirl.

Michael Patrick King
wants to know if a straight man will ever admit to loving Sex and the City, or will
they always blame their viewing
on an accident? And what’s up with the shoes? Is that all they notice,
seriously? What about Samantha always having her legs in the air? Why isn’t
that what they focus on?
Voters at E! say that the last real man in Hollywood is Johnny Depp, according to a poll on The Awful Truth. I’ve got nothing against Mr. Depp, who hasn’t really aged much since he was an adult playing a cop playing a high school student, but I don’t find him supremely manly, and he lives in France – recount?
People are up in arms again with Venus Williams wearing skin-tone undergarments with her tiny tennis outfits. Why don’t we ever have to debate this problem with male players like Andy Roddick? I want full equality!
Kendra Wilkinson’s sex tape is selling better than Kim Kardashian’s sex tape. But don’t
professionals generally earn more in any field? Kendra worked for Playboy after all and Kim works for,
well, I don’t
really know what she does.
A pub in the U.K. welcomed gays to an Elton John tribute concert, unless they were “mincing gays.” I don’t know about you but I seldom chop garlic when I’m at the pub.
Prince of Persia opened in some international markets over the weekend, and underwhelmed at the box office. The video game port of Jake Gyllenhaal’s abs earned 13% less than Iron Man 2 when it opened.
Same-sex couple Jonathan and Gregory won second place in the Crate & Barrel Ultimate Wedding contest. While they didn’t get the $100,000 wedding of their dreams, they did do wonders for gay visibility, and with their $7,500 Crate and Barrel Gift Card they can buy 1.5 place settings.
Britney Spears has surpassed Ashton Kutcher’s followers on Twitter, though of each one’s 4.9 million followers, only 13 are known to not be marketing bots.
Jason Mraz wrote about being teased and bullied in
school, and being called “faggot” by the other
kids. This is what inspires him
to speak out for our causes in such a simple yet effective voice.
Multiple reports say that the White House, gay activists, and leaders of Congress are hammering out a compromise on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell as I write this. The rumor is that Congress is likely to repeal the law and return the power to the Pentagon to decide if gays can serve openly. So in other words, we’re measuring progress as going back to 1992 status. Yay?
I can’t find a copy of Male Bonding’s “Year’s Not Long” but if you go watch the video, things take an unexpected twist near the end. I’m not really sure what story they’re trying to tell, or if the whole video was about what happens to straight guys after six beers.
Earlier we showed
you a picture of Talbott from True Blood
with his lover Russell. Now the actor tells E! that yes, he does get naked, but
it’s for a very good reason. Can’t nudity be a reason unto itself?
Mark Twain's autobiography is being published in November, 100 years after his death, per the author’s instructions. No one is quite sure whose feelings he felt the need to spare for a century, but here’s hoping it’s juicy or that the statute of limitations has run out.
Miles Millar and Al Gough (Smallville) have been hired to write a reboot of Charlie’s Angels for television. If we put that show back on the air, I fear for the ozone layer, because you need a lot of hairspray to make that hair work.
You may have forgotten, but half of the best bromance in reality television, Ronnie Kroell is posing for Playgirl. While we haven't seen anything from "the full Ronnie" we do have this behind-the-scenes picture.
Everyone seems focused on the underwear.
Glee's Lady Gaga tribute is tomorrow night, and I know I can't wait. I wish more of the guys had been willing to participate than just Kurt. And I have a feeling that Rachel making a costume from all her precious stuffed animals was a cause for tears - I bet she apologized to each one as she sewed it on the costume.
Brittany and Santana off to the right are new - I hadn't seen those.
And here's your daily dose of cute.
So Lost ended last night, which is good for me because I can mark the date about six months from now when people will finally stop talking about the show. It made no sense, people, it was not some brilliant commentary on anything! The alternate endings are as good as the show got, including this gay variation.
Via Gays of Daytime we have a McDonald's commercial that's either really sweet, or really sad. Regardless, it's really quite gay, even if it's subtle for some people. Run this in the United States and you won't have people chanting "I'm lovin' it!"
You know what happens in the new season of True Blood? If you've read the books, like I have, probably not because based on this new trailer it looks like they just used the books to get character names and not the plotline. Still, it's only three more weeks!
