#biggaybattle Roundup; Final Fanart, Tweets, and Media

This is the legen - wait for it - dary. Art credit: Jean Kang

What a week it's been. We started a little poll for Man of the Decade on December 23, and for two weeks, it quietly chugged along. Then somebody said 140 characters about it, and BOOM! a meme was born.

We admit to being a little gleeful about the whole thing as it took off. It's not unusual for our pieces to get picked up by Jezebel, Entertainment Weekly, or Popeater, but it's not every day that The Onion A.V. Club and the Wall Street Journal blogs notice us. Yes, I'm more excited about The Onion noticing - I mean, how cool is that?

We appeared in at least two print newspapers, and Television Without Pity picked the whole thing up yesterday. Which is pretty cool, since they're powered by Bravo, and anybody who reads my stuff knows there's a reason they don't let me cover Bravo programming.

TWOP has the coolest logo on the web.

Then there was fanart. We found the first of it by acccident. Then we told you to send it in. Most of it was done with a meme generator, which was cool enough, because I was too tired to make up any new jokes, and you guys are funny. But this morning I woke up to find that header image in my inbox. Wow. Just Wow. That's gorgeous. Thank you.

The whole thing spread by Twitter of course, which I admit to having a little addiction to. I won't even try and say I can stop whenever I want, because frankly, I can't. John Barrowman went from 4,500 followers to 13,000 in five days. Even NPH jumped from 190k followers to 207k, so it worked out for everyone.

While celebrities from Nathan Fillion to Jonathan Ross to Neil Gaiman jumped into the fray with their legions of followers. Neil Gaiman was even kind enough to name the whole thing for us, and send in a great picture of his dog, Cabal, when I couldn't find one.

Some unlikely tweets also carried the message.

I don't think federal election laws preclude you having a favorite in this case.

At this point, the polls are closed, the Flying Monkeys are tallying the ballots, and we'll announce the results later. But what a ride it's been. Thank you all.

Late Update:  Jean sent us this sparkly, glittery version of her piece at the top a friend of hers colored while she did the header.
