Daytime Drive By (August 6, 2009)

AfterElton's latest daytime reporter has total access to OLTL

Having trouble keeping up with the many gay boys cropping up on U.S. daytime soaps these days? We're here to help with our new regular feature Daytime Drive By, where we give you the rundown on Luke, Rafe, Fish and all the rest of the gay gang. Look for DDB whenever we don't have a liveblog and something gay happens on daytime television that you just have to know about!

So, Y&R is really starting to tick me off, because they told us there would be something gay this week, but I haven't seen anything but some camp. Today, Ashley goes nuts, but I don't know if she's just crazy, or if Adam is up to his tricks (not the Rafe kind) again.

So mixed in with Lily’s cancer story, and Nikki getting married, we’re supposed to see Ashley hallucinating. Since our heteroflexible Adam has caused 95% of Ashley’s issues, we’re going along for the ride.

Supposedly Victor warmed some soup and he and Ashley eat it. They fight about not fighting, until there’s the third person in the room, Sabrina, Victor’s dead wife. She tells Ashley the ranch is a death trap. It sure was for anything on four legs.

More wedding stuff, and I’m happy to report my tic from yesterday seeing J.T. seems to have resolved itself.

Dammit! I thought I was cured.

Sabrina tells Ashley she knows a secret about her baby. I’d be more interested if it were Zombie Sabrina. She is dead after all. How about some decay?

OK, this was a wasted trip. Tomorrow, we're not coming here unless they show me a gay, because I've had enough of this town.

  • Is Rafe every going to appear?
  • Has Adam managed to sneak Heather in for nookie since his dad pronounced him gay?
  • Where's Phillip? And why does Chance read as gay?

OK, so snicks liveblogged the snogging action over here. But I spent the morning with our set spy (Codename: Squirrel McPhotoshop, he's a friend of Sharkey's) getting the dirt on the future of the new gay power couple, since soaps film weeks to months in advance.

ABC started off this relationship with more passion than any of the pairings on the CBS soaps, and it looks like going forward, they intend to keep the heat up, and truly break ground with gay characters on TV.
