"Glee" Says "Hello" to Fans: Kurt's Boyfriend, Puck's New Do, Jesse St. James, plus Who's Dating Who

No love gained or lost for the teachers

Over the weekend, the Paley Center in Los Angeles honored the cast of Glee. And then Glee honored the Paley Center, journalists, and 2000 fans by screening "Hello," the first episode of the April return. They then answered questions.

First, let's set the mood. Sue (Jane Lynch) is back at work, and just as angry and manipulative as ever. In fact, Sue had some lines so caustic that were filmed but left on the cutting room floor like "Shut your mouth before I rape it" (good call) and "I will kick you square in the vagina" (don't see the problem). She's also set Brittany (Heather Morris) and Santana (Naya Rivera) on the task of seducing Finn (Corey Monteith), which I can't imagine would be that hard. Especially if they went after him together.

While young love blooms for Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) and Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), those aren't the only adults getting some action. Finn's mom and Kurt's dad enter each other's orbits, and this excites Kurt, since he loves the idea of sharing a house with his hunky crush. Which might be interesting comedy, if it weren't so creepy.

Modern day Brady Bunch?

For you Puck (Mark Salling) fans, being a dad hasn't smoothed all the edges from the bad boy, who will proceed to sleep his way through the rest of the female cast. That includes another try at Rachel (Lea Michele). During the panel, he leaned towards Jane Lynch and said "I'm coming for you Jane." which is something I'd pay to see.

As for Rachel, while she may have a taste of Puckleberry, her attention is quickly absorbed by Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff), the Vocal Adrenaline lead. E!'s Kristin Dos Santos calls him "ultra-swoonworthy" but I say back off, he plays for our team. We first meet his character in a duet with Rachel during the "Hello" episode.

OK, so maybe he is ultra-swoonworthy.

We get the same lines about Kurt's upcoming boyfriend we've heard before. Producer Ryan Murphy isn't interested in a trite gay-bashing story, he wants the boyfriend to be "very different, but equally fabulous. I want them to be the power couple of the school." So from getting slushies to the face to throwing them?

As for the music, You've got ten songs from Madonna in the second episode back, including Sue singing "Vogue" after her makeover from Kurt and Mercedes. There's an upcoming Lady GaGa tune. Kurt had a request granted to sing "Rose's Turn" by Bette Midler. And Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Morrison have two duets, one by Aerosmith and one by Billy Joel. Spoil sports include Bryan Adams and Coldplay, who won't allow their songs to be used.

As for the seemingly endless selection of guest stars, Ryan Murphy swears they're turning down tons of people, including a stack of American Idol contestants. But he admits that a Tony Award is a golden ticket for the show if you want it. And that means we'll be seeing Kristin Chenoweth back in the third episode.
