Morning Meme: Helen Mirren Plays Nanny, "South Park" Gets Censored, "Glee" Flashes Forward To Old Age, and Seth Rogen In 3D

Glee tackles girl's body issues, we look at male synchronized swimming, meet Katey Sagal's (onscreen) father, and visit with The Boys Next Door.

We weren’t the only ones chatting with people like Jane Lynch and Adam Lambert at the GLAAD Media Awards.  NewNowNext also caught up with them, and they’ve got their interviews up now.

Disney announced that the release date for Brave (formerly The Bear and the Bow) is June 15, 2012. They also set the date for Monsters, Inc  2 at November 16, 2012.

The Pentagon announced the number of discharges under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell for 2009 was 443 lives changed forever. Of course, that’s probably low, since the Pentagon doesn’t count Guard or Reserve discharges in that number. The policy has now cost 13,425 service members their livelihood.

Everybody in Hollywood knows that 3D conversions are crap compared to films shot in 3D from the start. Everyone said they were crap after Clash of the Titans. But with the ability to nearly double ticket prices for 3D, Hollywood can’t resist. So Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Green Hornet are both going back to the lab for conversion.

Track listings for Glee, The Music: Volume 3, Showstoppers have come out, and while not all tracks list the artists, some fun ones include Neil Patrick Harris on “Dream On” and Jonathan Groff belting out an all-time favorite of mine, “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”

In things that don’t need to happen, they’re remaking the Dudley Moore classic Arthur. But we knew Russell Brand was destroying the title role, we now know that Helen Mirren will be wasting her considerable talents in the role of his longtime nanny.

Our cousins over at Comedy Central bowed to pressure and censored elements of last night’s South Park dealing with the prophet Muhammad. They even censored the closing speech about fear that didn’t mention him. Trey and Matt are not pleased, and have released a statement.

Letters To God director David Nixon hopes to make religious-themed movies in the future in 3D. Which is all I need, guilt flying off the screen.

Our friends at The Bilerico Project have taken a closer look at the court filings in the gay/bisexual softball discrimination case we spoke about yesterday, and it actually sounds worse than it did when I first mentioned it. There’s an element of racism that’s broached in the lawsuit that makes me extremely unhappy.

Sons of Anarchy is one of those shows that everyone tells me I should watch, but I never get around to. The addition of veteran actor Hal Holbrooke to play Katey Sagal’s dad means I need to add it to Netflix so I can catch up.

This poster for 8: The Mormon Proposition is epic. I want to give the poster an Oscar without seeing the film.

Americans love to think someone is behind the curtain pulling the strings.

Hiya! Biya! Hiya! Biya!

This is actually a fairly simple maze to solve. It looks epic, but it's very much a five-year-old level.

Relax your eyes, you'll see it.

Somebody call PETMC (People for the Ethical Treatment of Mythical Creatures).

At my college, they had an epic balloon festival - hundreds would take off. It always fell during a home football game, and they'd float over the field in a mass. Beautiful.

But they didn't have a panda.

This otter is praying we don't destroy his habitat.

This is going to become my official response to all grammar complaints.

This Glee preview doesn't make me happy. In fact, I'm actually getting kind of sick of Sue in some ways. I'm hoping that Mercedes slams the heck out of her over this, because little girls have enough body issues.

Months ago they released a music video for "Highway To Hell" mixing Iron Man 2 footage with a giant concert AC/DC did in South America. They've updated it with fresh footage from the movie. I'm so excited to see this. Take this as a request, boss: I'm taking Iron Man 2 release day off.

The TV Land Awards air this Sunday, even though the ceremony was last week. Glee is being honored as a "Future Classic." But what's kid of epic is the TV Land Glee Club doing the signature "Don't Stop Believin'" from the show, with David Hasselhoff playing Finn and Marilu Henner playing Rachel. The backup chorus is made up of Todd Bridges, Joyce Dewitt, Jamie Farr, Marla Gibbs, Howard Hesseman, Shirley Jones, Richard Karn, Richard Moll, Marion Ross, Jimmie Walker, Marcia Wallace and Fred Willard.

The Swimsuit Issue is a Swedish film I almost passed on. But I have to admit that any film that has a drunken bachelor party ignite a midlife crisis that results in Sweden's first all-male synchronized swimming team is pretty cool. And all the Speedos don't hurt either. It's worth reading the captions, because it deals with some important themes.

Supernatural is building to the big battle between Archangel Michael and the Devil. This montage recaps the season and gives hints to season finale. Plus, it has the Winchester brothers!

The Big Gay Sketch Show is finally back to making Saturday Night Live look bad. Here they take on The Girls Next Door. Mildly NSFW visuals.
