NAACP Image Award Nominations Announced: "Precious" Dominates, "Glee" and "Southland" Score

Precious leads with 8 nominations.

The NAACP Image Award nominations were released today, and out artists and gay favorites appeared in the television, writing, and movie categories.

Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' By Sapphire dominated the film categories, scoring eight total nominations, including Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Independent Motion Picture, Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Lead Actress for Gabourney Sidibe, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Lenny Kravitz, and Outstanding Director for the out Lee Daniels.

Basketball Jones by the out E. Lynn Harris (deceased) and Before I Forget by the gay supportive Leonard Pitts, Jr. were nominated in the literature categories.

A favorite of our editor for never resorting to gay panic, Donald Faison.

In television, Donald Faison was nominated for his part in the bromance on Scrubs. Glee picked up a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series. America Ferrera picked up a Lead Actress in a Comedy nomination for Ugly Betty, while Vanessa Williams and Ana Ortiz square off in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy.

Jill Scott was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama series for the inclusive No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, squaring off against Regina King for Southland. Anika Noni Rose scored for Best Supporting in No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency as well.

Wanda was nominated for both her talk show and her comedy special.

Despite her ratings, Wanda Sykes scored a nomination for what has to be the gayest show on television in the Best Talk Show Category, plus a second nomination for her HBO special I'ma Be Me.

Finally, Paris Barclay picked up a television Best Director nomaintion for the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode "Coup de Grace"
