People's Choice Awards Lack Drama or Humor, Despite "Glee"'s Wide Eyed Wonder

Glee-ful cast
The People's Choice Awards were presented last night in Los Angeles, providing the least dramatic awards show of the season, since you know if the star is there, they're leaving with a trophy. Neil Patrick Harris let that cat out of the bag on Jimmy Kimmel last night for the six people in Nebraska that didn't know the show was canned.
Still, the show opened with Ellen DeGeneres picking up a tropy for Favorite Talk Show. Other notables were Hugh Jackman picking up the statue for Favorite Action Movie for Wolverine and smokin' hot Ryan Reynolds accompanying Sandra Bullock onstage when she accepted for The Proposal for Favorite Comedy Movie.
Still, the highlight for gay viewers was probably the cast of Glee at their first big awards show, picking up the trophy for Best New Comedy, Chris Colfer leading the way on stage, grinning ear-to-ear. I love that the whole thing is still so new to the cast that they excitedly TwitPic their way through these events. Cory Monteith in particular provides a kind of joy that you normally have to be around a four-year-old on Christmas morning to see.
Cory meets Chevy Chase
Did you watch? What was the biggest surprise? For me it was Taylor Swift actually losing an award for a change, when Carrie Underwood won Favorite Country Artist. Don't feel too bad – Swift still won Favorite Female Artist.
