Talk Show Roundup: Cory Monteith on Chelsea Lately, Grizzly Bear Rocks Conan, T.R. Knight Does Ellen
Yesterday was a cornucopia of gay celebrities and gay favs on the talk show circuit, and since some of you have to work when these things are on, or sleep so you can go to work, we thought we'd provide a few clips to show you what you missed.
Going in reverse chronological order because I feel like it, Grizzly Bear brought their brand of quirky rock to Conan's late night chat fest, where they seem to have survived the red headed giant's normal lame attempts at gay humor unscathed. They also sounded pretty darn good, which is always dicey for a live performance. Then, stepping back in time about thirty minutes, we get another tall dude dropping by Chelsea Handler's late night chat fest: Cory Monteith of Glee. They dish about all sorts of topics, such as his having attended the National Dinner for the HRC, his immigration status as a Canadian and whether marrying Chuy would help him out. I was really impressed with how he handled himself with the always unpredictable, irreverant Chelsea.
This clip of "Ellen in One Minute" is a little odd for a couple of reasons. First, it's over two minutes long, so the title seems a little misleading. Secondly, it doesn't have my favorite T.R. Knight moment from yesterday's show, when he asked Ellen for a baby, because he knows "she sometimes gives things away." That threw the hostess for a second, but she recovered fairly quickly. Instead, you can enjoy them playing T.R.'s favorite game, "How Many Necks?"
Finally, apropos of absolutely nothing, is a segment from Friday's Ellen Show, which I couldn't find any other way to work into the blog, and I really, really wanted to. Ellen's been fascinated with the Shake Weight exercise piece you see advertised on late night TV. She even gave them to her entire audience one day. Well, Shake Weight for Men just came out, and the company let her debut their new commercial on her show. As she says, Shake Weight for Men is "bigger and longer."
Well, that's about it for the gay old time on the chat fests yesterday - how'd Team Gay do? Submitted by on Wed, 2009-10-14 16:00. |

Would somebody hug OLIVER, already!?
Cory...
I love Cry I'm a big fan of his glee character, and I love to see him posted here, I though he was not considered a gay fave, since I don't see much support for him very often...

I think we all love Cory
I think most of us love Cory, we just think that his storyline is dominating the entire show, and want to get to know Kurt, Mercedes, Artie and Tina more. When I wrote that sentence, I actually had to go look up the character names for Artie and Tina, they've had so little screentime (I knew the actor names, and their Twitter identities). That tells me they're much more background than we were led to believe, and it bugs me.
This should not be taken as meaning I dislike Cory or Lea, I just want to know the other characters in a show I enjoy.
