Colin and Justin: decorating divas

As television’s best-loved style experts, Colin McAllister, 40, and Justin Ryan, 39, first came to the British public’s attention back in 2003 in BBC2's hugely successful series, the Million Pound Property Experiment, which saw them buy, renovate and sell seven properties across Britain, ranging from £100,000 to £1.25 million.

And now, our favorite Scottish interior designers, who are openly gay life-partners off screen, are back with a brand new TV show. Colin and Justin’s Home Show sees the lovable duo take to the road to visit some of the UK’s biggest retail destinations, ranging from Bluewater to Meadowhall to the Trafford Centre. The format of the show requires Colin and Justin to make their own set from scratch in the middle of a shopping centre, transforming the set into a spectacular themed room in front of a live audience, using furnishings and accessories sourced from the shopping centre.

With their trademark bickering behavior, temper tantrums and light-hearted put-downs, Colin and Justin’s Home Show has all the ingredients to be as riveting viewing as their previous endeavors. Who can forget their unique presenting style on the second series of the controversial reality show, The Farm? And watching the pair trying to bring up an animatronic baby for six days in 3 Celebs and A Baby was TV at its most hilarious.

Together for 21 years, the couple recently crossed the pond (well, Canada!) to present a new TV show on Canadian telly. Colin and Justin’s Home Heist sees the boys trying to put an end to bad taste in Canada, as they hunt down homes with criminally bad interiors, in which they have just one week to give them a stylish makeover.

Colin and Justin’s Home Heist can be seen on HGTV in October 2007.

Colin and Justin’s Home Show starts on UKTV Style from September 25, 2007 at 8pm.

Anyone seen ''Designer Guys'' or ''Design Rivals,'' starring Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman? Wikipedia says they're openly gay, but I don't know if they're a couple or not. ... Given the stereotype of gay designers, I'm surprised more of them aren't out. Of course, there's Nate Birkey (''Oprah'') and the guys from ''Queer Eye.'' On the other hand, Christopher Lowell is so flaming that if he's gay, I'm surprised he hasn't set himself on fire. I think I read somewhere that he doesn't discuss his ''personal life.'' I also think a couple of the guys on ''Trading Spaces'' are gay, but not out.

I haven't heard of these guys before, but really enjoyed the clip, Thanks! They're fun to watch, and I like the fact that they're a couple... it makes me think that they'd have a unique rapport. I don't think I've seen many TV shows that star a "real life" couple? I wonder why?
