ABC hopes to find a Miracle Man in Todd Holland
ABC has picked up the latest project from out producer and director Todd Holland, a collaboration with cult favorite Tim Minear. Miracle Man follows a disgraced, former televangelist who finds that God is using him to perform miracles. Miracle Man was, reportedly, the subject of a bidding war between Fox and ABC, with ABC winning. Holland is a three-time Emmy winner for directing an episode of The Larry Sanders Show, the pilot of Malcolm in the Middle and my favorite Malcolm episode, "Bowling", which compared Hal and Lois would handle identical situations. After one of those Malcolm Emmy victories, Holland kissed his husband on camera during the acceptance speech. He last worked with Minear on Wonderfalls, which he co-created with out writer Bryan Fuller. (Fuller is the brain behind Pushing Daisies, which debuts on ABC on October 3). Meanwhile, fans of Firefly, Wonderfalls, The Inside or Drive know Minear as a name that can promise great TV, even if that greatness turns out to be short lived.
Miracle Man sounds like a project the enthusiastic Wonderfalls fanbase will be anticipating, especially since it examines similar spiritual themes. I know I'll be watching how this series progresses. Submitted by on Tue, 2007-08-28 17:51. |
