Can Betty White really put together a Salute to Fruit?

TV Land has an intriguing new reality series set to debut later this summer (I know -- TV Land? Reality? Isn't that a contradiction in terms?) In Back to the Grind, TV stars are asked to learn the job that was the livelihood of their iconic characters. Betty White will attempt to host her own cooking show, a la Sue Ann Nivens, while Bea Arthur will appear in another episode, tutoring a SAT prep class (so that's what Dorothy did...).

That got me wondering what scenarios might be fun with iconic gay characters. Here's what I'd find interesting:

Hal Sparks

His Queer as Folk character, Michael Novotny, got to live his dream of owning a comic shop. In real life, however, can Sparks learn to deal with tracking the complicated inventory? More interestingly, how would the sharp-tongued Sparks deal with difficult customers?

Mario Cantone

His Sex and the City character, Anthony Marentino, became friends with Charlotte after he planned her wedding -- but could Mario help put together a big event and end up bonding with the host? Why are we thinking that Mario's manic persona might not be the best match for this particular profession...

Michael Boatman

On Spin City Carter Haywood was the minority liaison for the Mayor of New York City. Acting and politics call on a lot of common skills, and it would be an interesting lesson to watch.

Mitchell Anderson

He played a gay violin teacher on Party of Five ... but can he learn to play well enough to teach it? (Ed: there was a time when I'd have paid Anderson to play me like a violin any day, but that's another story...)

Martin Mull

He managed Roseanne when she worked at a department store restaurant. It'd be fun to watch the witty Mull learn about the ins and outs of running such a frantic business.
