CBS News on Logo's first half-hour show to feature Waters, Towle, and more

Until now, CBS News on Logo has been quick bite of information that comes in during commercial breaks on gay network Logo (this site's parent company). However, after giving us the Visible Vote presidential forum and a special on gay Latino issues, CBS News on Logo is graduating into full weekly half-hour newsmagazine. The show will continue to be hosted by Jason Bellini with reporting from Itay Hod and Chagmion Antoine.

The program will mix headlines with deeper coverage of current issues like the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and HIV/AIDS. The series will also take a gay look at pop culture. Next week's debut will include an interview with John Waters, a day in the life of blogger Andy Towle and a profile of lesbian favorite folk singer Erin McKeown.

For a network that's been around for only two-and-a-half years, I've been impressed with how much it has grown in that time. There's a good amount of original programming and introducing a show that regularly discusses gay issues will round out Logo's content nicely.

    This is good news but

This is good news but please, afterelton guys, talk to Logo about improving their programming!  I want to like this channel but the programs currently on are just not watchable.

First of all, Bad Girls is on 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.  What's up with that?  It looks like an okay show, but not every hour of the day!  Why can't we have a scripted, decently written show for gay men?  I know it's expensive, but you've got to do better than Noah's Arc, which is just painfully bad.  The Rick and Steve cartoon is okay but I don't understand why they're picking up all these animated shows instead of spending the money for something live.  What about talking to Cowan and Lippman from Queer as Folk about a new show?  Or talk to the BBC about showing some of their programs.

There have been a lot fewer movies shown in the last few months (replaced by Bad Girls episodes of course).  I really hate the censorship but understand that's probably unavoidable given that it's not on pay cable.  But I'd rather see censored movies than endless repeats of the same show.

    Fully Agree With BSGnut.

I switched from comcast to Dish Network recently to get German TV, and it didn't even occur to me that Dish WOULDN'T carry Logo. Well, they don't- and guess what: I don't really feel I'm missing out. I guess I'd seen enough horribly edited episodes of Queer As Folk, and while Tales of the City might be great television, but not if it's own EVERY. FREAKING. WEEK.

Logo is definitely an awesome effort and great idea, but unfortunately their programming is only a joke. The censorship is just unbelievable - like once I watched a film on there where the word 'pubic hair' was bleeped out while 'faggot' remained intact. Are they aware WHO their audience consists off? Give us unedited films, I am sure the gay and lesbian core audience can handle it. To be honest, I'd rather pay for Logo if it offered decent films and shows instead of watching the current channel. Even the commercials are the same 5 ones over and over again.

With Logo's current track records, CBS NEWS ON LOGO will air five or six times and then somehow they will lose their enthusiasm for it and just recycle those episodes for eternity.
