"Glee" adds more great casting and a special sneak preview after "American Idol"
As you probably noticed, we've had high hopes for Ryan Murphy's upcoming Fox musical dramedy Glee ever since we first heard about it. Following a terrible high school glee club, the series promises a lighter tone than Murphy's fx drama Nip/Tuck, and we're hoping Glee will turn out to be the second coming of Murphy's much-missed Popular. We were also excited to hear that the series will also feature a gay teen character, something that's pretty rare on TV. Considering the small number of gays of any age on Fox, he's a welcome addition. And now, we know how long we'll have to wait to see Glee. We'll get our first look at the series on May 19, a special post-American Idol preview that will hopefully get viewers excited for when the series runs in the fall. Even better, scoopmeister Michael Ausiello has more reason for us to look forward to Glee's arrival thanks to two more brilliant casting additions. Ausiello reports that gay faves Kristin Chenoweth and Victor Garber will have recurring roles on the show. Ausiello is playing mum on Chenoweth's role (though he promises it's hilarious) while Garber will play one of the glee club parents. Garber and Chenoweth Of course, both Garber and Chenoweth's previous roles were on ABC dramedies where people would break into song. Chenoweth made us realize it was possible to love Pushing Daisies even more when she broke out into a performance of "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and we saw Garber perform some George Michael songs as part of Eli Stone's hallucinations. Glee promises some "organically sung" tunes in each episode and it'll be a thrill to having Chenoweth and Garber singing on my TV again. Submitted by on Thu, 2009-03-05 15:08. |

Garber's got the singing chops
Everyone knows how "Wicked"ly good Chenoweth can be with show tunes, but many people forget that 36 years ago, Victor Garber sang, danced, and died as Jesus in another Stephen Schwartz musical: the movie version of "Godspell," which included a (now creepy) vaudeville number in which Jesus and Judas sang and tap danced on top of the unfinished World Trade Center Towers to the song "It's All For The Best."
Lea Michelle is terrific.
Lea Michelle is terrific. She played Eponine in the Hollywood Bowl's production of Les Miz with a star studded cast. Check her out below:

I am beyond estatic for this show. Kristin, Victor, Jayma and Lea and Jane. It's going to be a gay old time.
