How would you nudge Waylon Smithers out of the closet?

There wasn't much that was gay about Sunday night's special celebrating the 20th Anniversary of The Simpsons. John Waters showed up to discussed the series' history of envelope-pushing, but Waters' multiple-award winning episode, "Homer's Phobia" wasn't mentioned. The only discussion of the record-breaking comedy's gay inclusiveness came when GLAAD's Rashad Robinson appeared to discuss Waylon Smithers and to express a wish to see Smithers "become more open about his sexual orientation"
Robinson suggests that Smithers could form an employees' group for the GLBT employees of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, but we thought it might be fun to come up with a few more possibilities for Smithers to be a little bit more open about who he is.
"Viral Video Outed the Internet Star"

When Mr. Burns decides to fire Smithers (again) his freak out is captured by Homer on his camera phone and uploaded to the internet. Suddenly, Smithers is the new "Leave Britney alone" guy and Homer, looking to keep this new source of attention, starts stalking — and eventually pranking — the newly-unemployed Smithers as a source for new uploads. Faced with a too-familiar public who is certain he's gay, Smithers gets a new chance to take another inch out of the closet.
"The Bromance of the Two Co-workers"

The Simpsons hasn't turned a much-needed satirical eye towards bromances, and I'm always happy to see more of Springfield's best-known bromance, Lenny and Carl. Putting them in Smithers' orbit for one episode, with Smithers not feelng sure if the two are just friends or if they're deeply closeted like he is, could be a good opportunity to develop his character.
"The Real Drones of Sector 7G"

The Simpson family have already been on a reality TV show (and, yes, Homer has already been an internet sensation), but the genre is still with us and there's new material to be mined in reality TV dramas and their scripted storylines and re-shoots. If reality TV cameras were to capture the daily drama at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Smithers would likely be portrayed as gay, possibly with the kind of "Will finally he come out in this week's episode?" tease last seen on Bravo's NYC Prep
"Smithers and the Sham Marriage"

The Simpsons has tackled same-sex marriage in "There's Something about Marrying" but it hasn't handled the one right of marriage that has been fodder for romantic comedies for decades, immigration. Perhaps, for once, one of these sham marriages could be for the benefit for a same-sex couple who otherwise wouldn't be able to stay together, like if Smithers were asked to marry Patty's girlfriend to prevent her deportation.
"The Two Mister Burns"

Evil twins are always fun, so what if Mr. Burns discovered that he has a nice long-lost brother, a man who is shockingly friendly, kind and can appreciate the devotion Smithers shows to his boss. This, of course, means this long-lost relative's days are numbered but not after Smithers' attraction to Burns gets acknowledged.
