"The Kids in the Hall" and "Little Britain USA" are headed back to television

If the gay sketch comedy fan in your life has suddenly taken to repeating The Kids in the Hall catchphrases to you, that's probably because the Canadian comedy troupe is preparing for a return to television, according to Dave Foley. Foley said that the Kids are working on an 8-episode mini-series for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, which aired the original Kids in the Hall that American viewers saw on HBO, Comedy Central and CBS.

Find out the details of the Kids return to TV (as well as Little Britain's Stateside return) after the break.

The new Kids program isn't actually a return to sketch comedy, interestingly enough. The new series, currently called Death Comes to Town will have an over-arching narrative with Dave Foley, Scott Thompson, Mark McKinney, Bruce McCullough and Kevin McDonald playing all the characters, something Foley compared to The League of Gentlemen.

There's no word if we can expect any of the familiar Kids characters like Buddy Cole, the Chicken Lady or the Head Crusher to appear in Death Comes to Town, so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Naturally, I'm eager to hear about which US network ends up picking up Death Comes to Town; even if it turns out to be Brain Candy revisited, there are plenty of KitH fans eager for a chance to see new material that doesn't require checking tour dates and debating that angry vow you made the last time you used a ticketing agency.

Little Britain USA's Daffyd (Matt Lucas) and Sebastian Love (David Walliams)

We can also expect more of Little Britain USA as Matt Lucas and David Walliams' crude catchphrase sketch show will be returning for a second season. Lucas announced the new season while promoting the UK DVD for the first season, noting that the ratings for the show were strong.

Little Britain USA got definitely mixed reviews, with some critics panning the series' potty humor. The original Little Britain was definitely a taste that took a few tries for me to acquire, so it'll be interesting to see if any minds change between seasons and critics give the series another chance.

I love Buddy Cole and the Headcrusher, but --

I'd REALLY love to see the new series revolve around their dumb office girl characters. They're the best!

The Kids in the Hall are

The Kids in the Hall are more like the Old Coots in the Hall! But they're still good. The Little Britain guys -- not so much. Frankly, I'm surprised they were renewed.

    I love LB

I am so happy that LB USA is coming back for a second season, I really can't understand people who say it's not as good as the original LB, I think it is. David and Mstt are amazing in everything they do, it's impossible not to laugh when watching LB, and LB USA.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Little Britain when it was on in the UK. I've even seen them live (and they are really good live) but after the 2nd series everyone I know, myself included, kinda got bored with it. Because it's a show based on catchphrases more than anything else it kinda gets old really fast. I haven't seen any of the Us version, but i have a funny feeling that the same might happen over there. And I've never heard of kids in the hall before, what is it?
