News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for the weekend of April 4

Friday

Luke and Noah make another appearance this week and after months of tediousness, Monday's sitcom wackiness was a decent change of pace (or was I just distracted by Van Hansis' charmingly mischievous laughter?). Be sure to check in today at 2PM Eastern as we give it the liveblog treatment.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated) Check local listings
It's a day promising a lot of gay pop music as The B-52s will be performing their latest single, "Funplex" (and maybe "Love Shack"?), while George Michael will call in with a "surprise announcement".

Make Me a Supermodel: UK Marathon (Bravo) starting at 8:00 AM EDT
In case last night's season finale wasn't enough for you, Bravo is airing the full second season of the UK version of Make Me a Supermodel today. Does this mean I can hope to see episodes of Project Catwalk?

Degrassi Spring Break Movie (The N) 8:00 PM EDT
The popular youth drama sees its first movie as the Degrassi gang goes on a road trip. While they haven't appeared in the clips I've seen so far, I've read that LGB characters Marco (played out actor Adamo Ruggiero), Paige and Alex are all a part of the action. I hope that's true, I'm pretty excited about the possibility of Alex making a return appearance; hopefully, the Degrassi writers will take the chance to make up for her awful exit. (And when is Marco going to give Manny that much needed hair intervention?)

Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi Channel) 10:00 PM EDT
While we're still hoping to see some gay characters who last on this Peabody-winning series, it certainly has a gay following. This season promises that Lucy Lawless will return as Number Three, as well as a new role for Tricia Helfer. I know for most viewers are eager to find out about Starbuck's reappearance and her talk of earth, but my partner and I have spent far more time debating how Tigh could be a cylon ... which mysteries are you eager to see resolved? Oh, and because I've got an excuse:

Saturday

Doctor Who (BBC America) 7:00 PM EDT
In case you missed it when it ran on the Sci-Fi Channel, BBC America starts airing the three-part finale for the last season of Doctor Who tonight. The episode takes place immediately after the end of Torchwood's first season, as Captain Jack ends up chasing The Doctor to what literally turns out to be the end of time. There's a nice bit where we see that Jack's immortality makes him the ideal companion for The Doctor, except that the TARDIS objects. If the current season of Torchwood was your introduction to Martha Jones here's your chance to see her first meeting with Jack.

Torchwood (BBC America) 9:00 PM EDT
Oh, does the plot really matter this week when we've got Jack and Ianto getting caught in flagrante delicto? Alright, the plot involves Gwen obsessing over a missing person case as Jack keeps telling her to drop it. See, it all goes downhill after the Janto.

Sunday

Shameless (Sundance) 9:00 PM EDT
Ian's story takes another turn tonight as his closet cover, Mandy Maguire, turns out to be pregnant and Ian has to face the imposing Maguire family. Will this be another forced coming out for him?
