It's been a long wait but tonight Brando Eaton makes his debut on The Secret Life of the American Teenager as gay teen Griff.
And that's just part of a night of gay TV that includes Kathy Griffin being immortalized in wax on My Life on the D-List and Graham Norton visiting Chelsea Lately.

While the spoilers I've seen make no mention of a Kish sighting today, OLTL shows off its gay sensibility with a Grey Gardens homage. I'm not usually a fan of Blair's storylines, but I've got my hopes up, based on the preview image.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family) 8:00 PM EDT
It's Ashley's first day at Grant High and she's lucky enough to find a guy destined to become her gay BFF to survive high school. Considering how much sex (or, at least, talk of sex) there is on this show, it should be interesting how it handles a gay teen character.
Sex in the Ancient World (History) 9:00 PM EDT
The History Channel's latest attempt to get viewers' attention by putting "sex" in the programming grid starts out with a look at Pompeii. The program description doesn't promise a look at same-sex sexuality but is it possible to overlook that aspect of Roman culture and hold onto your credibility?
Dance Your Ass Off (Oxygen) 10:00 PM EDT
With a personal call home on the line, this week's swing challenge means a lot to Ruben, who would really like to get to talk to his partner before he goes in for treatment.
Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
Kathy sees herself recreated in wax at Madame Tussauds and, now that Kathy's taught her mom about Facebook, it's time for Maggie to teach her daughter about this newfangled "reduce, reuse and recycle" idea. I have to admit, I'm not sure how this episode can not be a bit of a letdown after last week's awesomeness. Check out Maggie's way of cutting down on the amount of paper towels she sends to the landfill:
Raising the Bar (TNT) 10:00 PM EDT
It's a clerk turf war as Farnsworth tries to steal gay law cerk Charlie away from Judge Kessler.
Chelsea Lately (E!) 11:00 PM EDT
With Graham Norton visiting, I'm expecting a pretty lively exchange... either that or a constant battle to be heard.

It's Tuesday and Luke and Noah have found another reason for an argument.

Credibility on the History Channel?
Don't hold your breath for credibility.
History Channel
Given how your previous shout-out to HC's Sexual Revolution ended in a whopping 15 minutes out of 2 hours showing straight sexual orgies and nudity and the gays with a superficial mention of the Stonewall Riots that didn't even cover the sexual aspects-- that are the theme in the special (while straights were done to death)-- I'm not inclined to take any more recommendations on gay visibility from that channel.
I don't know about your standards, but to me, gay television better have some consistent gay characters that make some good TV, not some shows with no gays and the insultingly stereotypical "gay sensibility". There is no gay sensibility; that's just an euphemism for "there ain't shit in this program; but I liked it, so I will conjure up some twisted rationalizations as to why gay viewers should watch it too."
So if the program in question...
...is written and produced by openly gay men and this particular episode doesn't feature the show's gay characters but does include a cultural touchstone that has primarily been embraced by gay men, that still doesn't count?
No.
What is a touchstone that has been embraced by gay men? We are not monolithic.
Would you deem a show with white characters and settings were it created by Tyler Perry black-pertinent TV?
Get the Channel Right if this is a TV Guide!
The Mostly Unfabulous Life of the American Teenager is actually on the ABC FAMILY Channel- We are famileee-

There's a gay character now? I haven't been watching this season... some of the plotlines were getting on my nerves. Given the nature of the show I'm a little surprised they're only just now going for a LGBT character, but better late then never. :) My prediction? Grace will get crazy religious on his ass. Look out, Griff!

Well, gay #3
With Donovan and Leon, this makes gay #3. The others still pop up occasionally. But this one looks to be built into the fabric more deeply. We'll have one of my overly detailed reports in tomorrow, I just finished submitting the world's longest IMHO.
I've got to learn to shut up at some point.
Donovan and Leon
I forgot about them! :) I was really hoping they would adopt Amy's kid, personally. But yeah, it will be good to have a homosexual character as more of a 'regular' on the show!

It was good with the new kid!
Quite frankly I have found the show devolving into another version of "Seventh Heaven" with all the appropriately stock Afternoon Special topics. Hey I am shallow enough to have watched it to see Ricky shirtless (which was accomplished this week - yeah).
Maybe they will do good with the character - maybe he will shake things up. I like him already.
