Queerview television guide: the Weekend of August 28

The big event on this weekend's gay TV is Sunday's Daytime Emmy Awards, but also features the return of Tim Bagley on Monk, the season finale of Being Human and America's Best Dance Crew taking on Bollywood.

And it all starts out when Fish has a close encounter with Staci on today's One Life to Live. How close of an encounter? Join us as we find out in today's liveblog starting at 2PM Eastern!

Friday

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
Things look bad for Fish right now as he hits a new low... and with him getting drunk around Staci, how much lower will he fall before he gets back up?

The Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC) 9:00 PM EDT
Outrageous and outspoken performer Sandra Bernhard will be talking music with Rachel tonight. While Bernhard is more of interest to our sister site, I figure she has enough gay male fans to merit an alert.

Monk (USA) 9:00 PM EDT
Tim Bagley returns tonight as Monk's nemesis Harold. With this being Monk's farewell season, will this appearance wrap up Harold and Monk's rivalry?

Saturday

Being Human (BBC America)
Things come to a climax in tonight's season finale as George gets ready to confront Herrick. I guess that means I really need to get caught up on the episodes still sitting in my DVR.

Sunday

The Tyra Show's Top Ten Moments (CW) 6:00 PM EDT
For better or for worse, Tyra Banks has included gay topics in her ridiculous "social experiments" and her discussion of current topics. Hopefully, this look back at the series won't stop my attempts to repress memories of Tyra episodes I've watched.

The 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards (cw) 8:00 PM EDT
While Van Hansis and Ellen DeGeneres are nominated, this year's Daytime Emmys will also include a tribute to Guiding Light, which goes off the air next month after seven decades of broadcasting and to Sesame Street which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Meanwhile, taking charge of the ceremony is gay-fave Vanessa Williams.

Big Brother (CBS) 8:00 PM EDT
This certainly should be interesting. With Kevin having made it into the final five, he's at a challenging point in his game, since he has to switch gears from his current under-the-radar game and play a little more aggressively.

Will Bollywood suit Vogue Evolution better than kung-fu did?

America's Best Dance Crew (MTV) 9:00 PM EDT
It's Bollywood week and Vogue Evolution challenge this week is to include Rajasthani dance in their routine this week -- a fluid style of dance with "swaying movements, hand gestures and small hip movements". That sounds well suited to them, dare I hope they'll live up to the challenge?

True Blood (HBO) 9:00 PM EDT
As things continue to be dangerous in Bon Temps Lafayette and Sookie try to keep an eye on Tara.

Daytime Preview for Monday, August 31

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
Yes, it's five days in a row of Oliver Fish as the closeted officer comes clean to his roommates.
