News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for December 4

Tonight's Ugly Betty has Betty and Amanda going out to see how much partying they can do for free while a budget plotline means at least a little bit of screen time for The Office's gay accountant Oscar.

Check out the full listings after the break!

365 Gay News: 2008 Year in Review (Logo) 7:00 PM EST
It's been quite a year for LGBT people and the latest 365Gay News special takes a look at all the breakthroughs and disappointments.

Ugly Betty (ABC) 8:00 PM EST
Amanda teaches Betty how to live it up in NYC while getting free stuff as research for an article called "How I Blew Ten Grand Without Spending a Dime". Ah, more Betty and Amanda — it's the unlikely friendships that are really making this season work for me. On paper, the idea of Marc and Amanda bonding with Betty sounds unrealistic, but it's exactly the kind of development the show needed.

The Office (NBC) 9:00 PM EST
I'm not sure how much screen time glamorous gay accountant Oscar will get in tonight's episode but he kicks off the main plot tonight when Michael finds himself in a use-it-or-lose-it budget surplus situation. I'm actually hoping Oscar has more of a role in the secondary plot, which has Andy planning his wedding to Angela. Oscar and Andy's unexpected bonding during that business trip was hilarious, particularly when Oscar got Andy to drunk dial Angela. Wouldn't it be great if The Office remembered how it used to be an ensemble show, and not one with a lot of well-written extras?

Will Oscar have more to do than just set up Michael for cringe-inducing behavior?

ER (NBC) 10:00 PM EST
While he doesn't appear at all in the description for tonight's episode, IMDB lists Sam Jones III in the guest cast. I am a bit curious to see where gay intern Chaz Pratt's medicine career goes next, even if his last stint in the ER was more than a little bit predictable.

The Sarah Silverman Program (Comedy Central) 10:30 PM EST
Sarah tries to create a legacy for herself by creating a new catchphrase ... unfortunately, everyone is too busy repeating Brian's new catchphrase to notice Sarah's. Normally, that might strain a friendship, but on this show it's hard to predict how Sarah will react.

The Gay Bed & Breakfast of Terror (Logo) Midnight EST
Logo debuts this deliberately campy gay horror film tonight as a part of its new Graveyard Shift midnight movie series. The reviews I've been able to find for this one haven't been kind at all, but maybe it has an "Original Sci-Fi Channel movie" quality to it?
