News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for the weekend of December 21

Friday

As the World Turns (CBS) Check local listings
It's time for a special Christmas as Oakdale goes back to the turn of the 20th century, with Luke and Noah as former classmates who discuss their "friendship". After yesterday, I doubt any of us will feel let down if we don't get any Nuke intimacy (annoyed, probably, but the disappointment meter filled up yesterday) due to the time period, so there's only room to be awaiting the promise of a sharp dressed Luke and Noah. We'll be having one last liveblog so check back in at 2PM Eastern to see if those ATWT scripts were written in "period" language and if an hour of hearing that affects how Brian writes...

What Would Jesus Really Do? (CNN) 8:00 PM EST
Roland Martin hosts a panel discussion of what Jesus would really say about contemporary topics, including gay rights, the war in Iraq, immigration, and abortion. Isn't it nice to be listed among such esteemed company? If you're up for some heated religious debate before Christmas, might be worth checking out.

The Wire: One Last Word (HBO) 10:30 PM EST
The role the media is the focus of this special that continues to build the hype for the upcoming fifth season.

Saturday

Saturday Night Live: Best of 2006-2007 (NBC) 8:00 PM EST
This special promises to include some of the most talked-about sketches from the last couple seasons, including Jake Gyllenhaal's Dreamgirls sketch.

The Graham Norton Show (BBC America) 10:00 PM EST
Well, I thought Marilyn Manson would be an interesting guest (and he was) but tonight Graham welcomes Lindsey Lohan. I don't recall Graham making jokes at La Lohan's expense, but he does so much mean-spirited gossip-based humor, it'll be interesting to see if Graham does anything differently.

Sunday

Comedy specials on Logo (Logo)
I see that Logo has scheduled several of its comedy specials for today. That might be just the tonic if you're getting in a mood for dealing with family or holiday travel. Here's the schedule:

  • 9:00 AM EST Mario Cantone
  • 9:30 AM EST Sabrina Matthews
  • 10:00 AM EST Elvira Kurt
  • 10:30 AM EST Jim David
  • 11:00 AM EST Scott Kennedy
  • 3:00 PM EST Alec Mapa
  • 4:00 PM EST Miss Coco Peru
  • 4:30 PM EST Judy Gold
  • 5:00 PM EST Vickie Shaw
  • 5:30 PM EST Doug Holsclaw
I can always be convinced to check out that Alec Mapa special, his Bette Davis imitation never fails to make me laugh.

    Weekend entertainment.....or lack thereof.

Luke and Noah look cute in those Penguin suits.Religious debates always hit a nerve with me.I like the comedians on LOGO, but i've seen these specials like a thousand times.
