News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for the weekend of February 8

Friday

Degrassi: The Next Generation (The N) 8:00 PM EST
The seventh season of popular Canadian drama returns as Ellie and Jessie's work relationship gets in the way of their romantic one -- and judging from the previews, Ellie's longtime pal, Marco (played by out actor Adamo Ruggiero) is a part of the drama.

That Mitchell and Webb Look (BBC America) 9:20 PM EST
I've been looking forward to seeing this series debut ever since I sampled their work while researching great gay comedy sketches. From what I've seen of this British sketch comedy, it has a flair for the absurd that reminds me of The Kids in the Hall.

Late Night with David Letterman
Tonight's guest include Colin Farrell, who'll most likely be there to promote his new film, In Bruges, but it'll be interesting to see if his gay brother's wedding, where Farrell will be the Best Man comes up in the conversation.

Saturday

Bernard and Doris (HBo) 8:00 PM EST
This HBO telefilm gives us a glimpse at what the relationship between heiress Doris Duke (Susan Sarandon) and her gay butler Bernard Lafferty (Ralph Fiennes). Sarandon and Finnes accomplish an outstanding performance in this film.

Torchwood (BBC America) 9:00 PM EST
An soldier from 1918 is the focus of this week's crisis. I'm looking forward to this episode, it has the potential for some major melodrama and comes from a writer who delivered that kind of emotional punches on a two-part Doctor Who last season. Oh... and there's some developments with Jack and Ianto, too.

Sunday

The Wire (HBO) 9:00 PM EST
Judging from the spoilers I've been skimming, it sounds like Omar has encountered quite the adversary in Marlo, has the resourceful gay theif finally met his match?

Brothers & Sisters (ABC) 10:01 PM EST
Jason McCallister (Eric Winter) returns, forcing Kevin (Matthew Rhys) to take time to consider where he wants his romantic life to go. Sounds juicy, I can't wait to see how this goes.
