Queerview Television Guide (Wednesday, February 3 2010)

ABC's Wednesday night comedies bring on the guest stars this week as gay-fave Minnie Driver visits the Dunphys on Modern Family and RuPaul helps make Ugly Betty dragtastic.

That's just part of a Wednesday night full of gay TV picks as Bravo goes from clothes to hair as Launch My Line wraps up its first season and Shear Genius's third season begins.

It's food and fashion in a single segment today as Isaac Mizrahi stops by to make a pasta dish with mushrooms and truffles.

Mercy (NBC) 8:00 PM EST
The hospital is thrown off when James Van Der Beek joins the cast as the new head of ICU. Angel actually got a second scene last episode, hopefully a new cast member won't crowd him out since he's already almost invisible.

Launch My Line (Bravo) 9:00 PM EST
Bravo's new fashion reality show wraps up tonight with all three gay experts working towards the final show (thanks to the return of Roberto). Thai and Emil have both had weeks where their work put them in the winners' circle, can either one help their designer win the big prize?

Modern Family (ABC) 9:00 PM EST
Minnie Driver appears tonight as Valerie, an old friend of Claire who turns out to have changed a lot from when they knew each other. I hope that means that Claire's closet gets emptied out... or that Valerie turns out to be a nomadic con artist. Meanwhile, it's bonding time for Cameron and Jay, who experience an unfortunate "moon landing" in the locker room as Mitchell helps Gloria with legal issues.

Styl'd (Logo) 9:00 PM EST
Brett gets a second chance at MMA but he quickly gets into trouble again thanks to his car. At the least, this week offers annoying straight guy Cody making his first major mistake when he styles Tyler Hilton.

Ugly Betty (ABC) 10:00 PM EST
When Wilhelmina learns of the existence of Wilhediva Hater, a drag queen inspired by Wili (and played by Vanessa Williams' brother Chris Williams), it leads to a confrontation at a cabaret hosted by RuPaul and featuring Manna Wintour, Candi Shell, Hedda Lettuce and Varla Jean Merman. Meanwhile, in a story that already sounds painful, Betty goes from newbie to award-winning blogger. I think I might be able to accept that only if the award comes with a registration fee.

The Real World (MTV) 10:00 PM EST
Ashley's past comes out this week after an incident between her and Andrew. Since Ashley and Mike burred the hatchet after their big fight, he'll probably be there to support her.

Shear Genius (Bravo) 10:00 PM EST
I certainly enjoyed the first two seasons of Bravo's hairdressing competition, but with Jaclyn Smith and Rene Fris gone and Jonathan Antin joining the judges table, I'm not so sure if I'm excited about this one. Still, this season features two out competitors, Brian and Matthew.

Daytime Preview for Thursday, February 4

The Wendy Williams Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Now, this sounds like a must-see. Thursday, RuPaul visits for a chat.

The View (ABC) Check local listings
The View ladies have Meghan McCain as a guest-host, partially known for her stance on gay issues like marriage equality (please tell me Elisabeth is taking the day off) as Sarah Silverman visits.

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
Fish is back tomorrow as he and Rex try to find Stacy, a search that could be complicated when Mitch learns the truth about the baby.
