Queerview Television Guide (Tuesday, February 9, 2010)

As the American Idol hopefuls head to Hollywood this week, they'll encounter Idol's newest judge, Ellen DeGeneres. Speculating about what Ellen will add to Idol has been a hot topic for months, tonight we finally find out.

But first, The Spawning continues on today's One Life to Live. We'll continue to liveblog the action, so be sure to join us starting at 2PM Eastern!

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
As the search on Llantano Mountain continues, Fish gets the chance to help Brody, but I'm more excited at the prospect of a smackdown between Kim and Roxy, who I am hoping to see become bickering aunts.

As the World Turns (CBS) Check local listings
Tensions continues for the Snyders as Holden starts to reach the end of his rope with the way Lily and Luke are worrying about Damian's safety.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Ellen chats with Valentine's Day star Bradley Cooper. An interview with Ellen would be a very odd place to continue the way Valentine's Day's marketing team has straight-washed Cooper's character, but I wonder if Ellen will ask him about his reaction to the straight-washing.

American Idol (Fox) 8:00 PM EST
This is it, where we finally stop wondering and get to see what kind of judge Ellen can be. Idol hasn't had a permanent judge who managed to be both nice and constructive, but if anyone is up to the task, it's Ellen.

The Millionaire Matchmaker (Bravo) 10:00 PM EST
Patti's two clients this week are fortysomething men who need to learn to start dating people closer to their age, one straight and the other — Smike (Smike?) — gay. That's not the only problem, however, as Smike's frequent travelling also gets in the way of a relationship. I'd like to think Smike's encounter with Patti could make me cringe the way she did with her first gay client but apparently she's just learned the word "twink".

Southland (TNT) 10:00 PM EST
Remember what happened with a certain Project Runway contestant and her cat a while ago? Officer Cooper gets a flashback to that tonight and things aren't so funny this time. Meanwhile Tim Bagley appears as a flasher who harasses Detective Adams.

Daytime Preview for Wednesday, February 10

Good Morning America (ABC) Check local listings
Lady Gaga will be joining gay icon Cyndi Lauper to talk about the MAC AIDS fund.

The View (ABC) Check local listings
It's a pretty gay day for The View as Tim Gunn stops by as Jackie Collins visits to discuss her new book.

As the World Turns (CBS) Check local listings
Luke and Noah are both expected on tomorrow's show, though they'll be in separate storylines as Noah finds new living arrangements and Luke continues to worry about Damian.

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
The Spawning continues and though there's no mention of Oliver (or Kyle) in the spoilers, it's hard to imagine him disappearing from the search for a day.

My theory

His given name was Mike and this is some sort of displaced consonant phenomenon, like how "an apron" used to be "a napron". Probably so many people were saying things like "That's Mike, he's a rich douchebag" that it turned into "That Smike, he's a rich douchebag."

Valentine's Day

Do Bradley Cooper and Eric Dane even have any scenes with each other in the movie? The other night on the Jimmy Kimmel show, Eric was asked since all of HollyWood was in the movie which stars did he work with? And he only stated Queen Latifah, Jessica Biel and George Lopez

If Valentine's Day

snubs gay romance, I will boycott Warner Bros blockbusters this summer!!

Southland looks strange and dark

on TNT, like a bad print of film, that I don't remember from its stint on NBC.  It's such a really good show in every way that I don't mind but I'm curious.
