Queerview television guide: July 6

With out actor Thom Bierdz's return to The Young and the Restless turning out to be last week's big cliffhanger, today's episode should offer some big drama as Phillip's old family reacts to his return.

And if the current season of My Life on the D-List wasn't amazing enough, tonight Kathy Griffin meets with Betty White... and brings her mom along for the ride!

Okay, I know I should be excited about Thom Bierdz returning to the show today but considering how amazing they've been in the lead-up to Phillip's return, I can't wait for the showcase this will be for Jeanne Cooper, Jess Walton and Tricia Cast.

The Closer (TNT) 9:00 PM EDT
Now that coroner Dr. Morales is officially out it should be interesting to see if he shows up in this week's case, where Brenda examines the murder of a former gang member.

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
Kathy's focus moves from meeting up with A-listers who can teach her how to get off the D-List to A-listers who can help her mom find inspiration, as gay fave Betty White meets up with Kathy and her mom.

Raising the Bar (TNT) 10:00 PM EDT
Tonight sees Charlie have a dinner with his ex, Judge Farnsworth, which considering the old ground those two have to cover, this could get interesting.

Daytime Preview for Tuesday, July 7

The Young and the Restless (CBS) Check local listings
If I'm counting my episode numbers right, Tuesday should see the fallout to Phillip's return continuing with Philip revealing why he felt the need to fake his death to get away from it all. But if you can't wait to find out Phillip's secret, here's a preview from Tuesday's show. Hmm ... I smell a liveblog!

    The Best Thing....

I watched the Candaian feed and the best thing about the episode is Tricia Cast, who rocked the house.  Everybody else was good (though TB is a little rusty having not acted in a long while), but Ms. Cast stole the show.

    Tuesday's episode

I've heard that Tuesday's eps of the soaps are going to be pre-empted for Michael Jackson's funeral. I believe it's definitely true of the ABC soaps (including OLTL), but will it be effecting Y&R as well?

    The Coverage

I believe the coverage doesn't begin until 1 PM EST.  So Y&R will/should still air.  At least I think it will.

BTW, the scene where Phillip comes out to Nina isn't until the end of the show.

And the previews for Wednesday with Adam and Rafe --- looks good!

    LOL!

Tricia Cast as Nina is terrific as always.  The look on her face after Phillip's big reveal is classic.  The shock, confusion and pain registered.  I'm so glad she's back.

I did see a promo pic of Adam/Rafe in the latest Soap Opera Digest for Wednesday's.  Be interesting to see how it all plays out.

If the soaps are preempted, it is likely they will be shown in the wee hours of the early morning in the markets in which they do not air in the regular time slot.  Usually after the late night talk shows are done.

Once upon a time I died.  And like my namesake I got better.

    Nina

I have always thought Tricia Cast was one of the most honest, visceral actresses who has ever been on this show.  I also always appreciated how she was not of the "typical soap casting glam female" type.

And anything that puts Thom Bierdz back on my TV screen is a plus in my book.  He has only gotten more DEEEEE-LICIOUS as the years have gone by!
