News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for the weekend of June 6

Friday

The View (ABC) Check local listings
If you're still raring to talk about Sex (and the City) some more, Sarah Jessica Parker will be joining the View ladies today. I wonder if those four ever discussed which one is the Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda of the group... (Discuss, people, discuss!)

Larry King Live (CNN) 6:00 PM EDT
Kathy Griffin is back and considering the ways she made Larry squrim in her last few appearances, you've got to wonder what she'll do this time (aside from make us laugh).

Saturday

Sybil (CBS) 8:00 PM EDT
Uhm, wha? How did I not hear that CBS was remaking the 1976 mini-series which won gay fave Sally Field an Emmy for playing a woman suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder (aka Multiple Personalities)? This could be worth checking out even if it turns out to be a train wreck. With Jessica Lange taking over the role of Sybil's therapist and Tammy Blanchard (who won an Emmy for playing Judy Garland in an earlier made-for-TV movie) in the lead, this certainly seems to have some gay appeal.

The NewNowNext Awards Pre-Show (Logo) 8:00 PM EDT
Before the ceremony starts, take a look at all the nominees for the first NewNowNext Awards. Unless you're able to follow every corner of the gay pop culture universe (and I know I certainly can't) this could be a solid catch-up opportunity. As an added bonus, Cyndi Lauper's new video will make its world premiere this hour.

The NewNowNext Awards (Logo) 9:00 PM EDT
Candis Cayne and Colman Domingo host this look at the best in gay pop culture. With the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Wilson Cruz and Christian Siriano appearing and Domingo bringing the beefcake this could be one fun night. Who will win Best Gay Kiss? We'll find out tonight.

Groomer Has It (Animal Planet) 9:00 PM EDT
Oh dear. This week, the groomers go to a rescue organization to pick out a dog to give the make-over of a lifetime. Considering how I couldn't look away during that Oprah episode where Lisa Ling investigated puppy farms and dog rescue operations, I'm expecting a tear jerker.

The Graham Norton Show (BBC America) 10:00 PM EDT
Graham chats up Dame Edna ... and is there any more that needs to be said about why this would be a must-see?

Sunday

Million Dollar Password (CBS) 8:00 PM EDT
Last week's mix of Neil Patrick Harris and a neon set certainly made Password more entertaining than I imagined the classic game show could be. This week, we get Rosie O'Donnell and Tony Hawk as guests ... with Rosie getting a quick chance to revive her spot-on Donald Trump imitation.

Design Star (HGTV) 9:00 PM EDT
HGTV's search for its next star kicks off its third season and, once more, the series has two gay competitors, Matt Locke and Michael Stribling.

    Yay

Norton and Dame Edna? That is going to be unpredictable and fun. A must see.
