For a little while, it was one of the most viewed sports on television but roller derby quickly faded away to be the subject of a documentary about people trying to revive the sport. I guess you wouldn't be surprised if I told you the sport had plenty of openly gay players. One player, HIV-positive Tim Patten, credits the sport for keeping him alive.
