Queerview Television Guide (The Weekend of March 19, 2010)

This weekend we greet John Barrowman to Wisteria Lane as he makes his Desperate Housewives debut and say anon to Shameless as the dramedy wraps up its fifth season in an alternate universe.
That's just a small part of a weekend full of gay TV picks including a search for the avatars of Zoe and Tarmara on Caprica and a lost team on The Amazing Race.
Friday
The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Today, Ellen will be talking with Constance McMillan, the Mississippi teen whose prom was canceled so that the school wouldn't have to allow McMillan to attend with her girlfriend. I think I'll get a bowl of popcorn ready to watch Ellen's audience disapprove of anti-gay discrimination. Gay-fave comedienne Chelsea Handler will also visit.
The View (ABC) Check local listings
It's "Fashion Friday" and this week the focus is on out designer Jason Wu, who designed Michelle Obama's Inauguration dress.
Who Do You Think You Are? (NBC) 8:00 PM EDT
This week we get a look at the family history of another woman who made her mark on gay pop culture, Lisa Kudrow
Caprica (SyFy) 9:00 PM EDT
Now that Daniel has figured out that Zoe is in the Cylon model, he spends this week trying to lure her out. Meanwhile, in parallel themes, Joseph continues to look for Tamara in New Cap City. I'd wonder if Sam might be able help find Tamara but that might be like asking a friend who works as a coffee shop barista for tips on playing Diner Dash.
Shameless (Sundance) 9:00 PM EDT
An earthquake hits Manchester in tonight's season finale, knocking Frank off his barstool and into a coma. While unconscious, he dreams of a world where he is a success, Ian is straight and Debbie isn't planning her escape from clan Gallagher. I presume Frank's alternate reality won't include children named Lip or Fiona, as well.
Saturday
The Wanda Sykes Show (Fox) 11:00 PM EDT
With Don't Ask Don't Tell being in the news this week — from gay Dutch soldiers being blamed for the Srebrenica massacre to Thursday's rally and protest — hopefully Wanda will be discussing the issue this week. Wouldn't this be a great week to have Kathy Griffin as a guest?
Sunday
The Amazing Race (CBS) 8:00 PM EDT
Last week, Race avoided letting the teams catch up with each other and we got a really boring episode where most teams finished in the same order as last week, despite the impressive battlefield recreation. Hopefully, that won't happen again this week as one team goes to the wrong Detour location (could it be someone other than the brain trust teams?) and another tries to repair their car with duct tape.
The Celebrity Apprentice (NBC) 9:00 PM EDT
Aw, last week's episode left me adoring Cyndi so much, even her 'this would be annoying if anyone else did it' indecision in the boardroom. This week, the celebs have to create a storefront for Kodak (remember when Kodak was paying to play "True Colors" in 30-second increments?) and the women's team has to deal with a sick teammate.

Desperate Housewives (ABC) 9:00 PM EDT
He's here! John Barrowman arrives, which means that Angie's story (probably the best part of the season) is heating up. Meanwhile, Bree gets closer to her long-lost stepson, which will probably prompt Andrew to object.

Gay-fave Betty White is scheduled to chat with Ellen on Monday. Hopefully there will be SNL talk.
