News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for the weekend of March 28

Friday

Jason Stuart: Making It in the Middle (Here!) On Demand
Here! debuts the first comedy special for out comedian Jason Stuart this weekend The series is billed as "filmed in the middle in the country, the middle of his career and the middle of his life." Hey, you gotta have a gimmick...

Sexplorations (Here!) On Demand
This weekend also sees the season premiere for Here!'s documentary series that examines the broad spectrum of sexuality by profiling various views of sexuality. This week's season premiere includes a look at gay Turkish immigrants living in Berlin, gay men who play traditionally macho sports as well as a look at the art of Glen Hanson. (At left: Hanson's interpretation of Cheyenne Jackson.

That Mitchell and Webb Look (BBC America) 9:20 PM EDT
It's hard to predict when this hilarious sketch comedy show will have gay content -- I guess that's the downside of being portrayed as just a part of the human tapestry, a problem I can live with -- but tonight's episode promises the return of the gay-ish euphemism-loving supervillain. I wonder if he'll be inviting anyone over for "light refreshments" this time?

Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon (Sci-Fi) 10:30 PM EDT
The Sci-Fi channel leads into the fourth season of its genre bending sci-fi series by turning on the camera and just letting funny people talk about it. The commentators include gay faves such as Seth Green and Soup snark-meister Joel McHale. Hopefully, someone will say something that'll justify replaying the scenes of Jaime Bamber and that towel.

Saturday

Torchwood (BBC America) 9:00 PM EDT
The Torchwood team have to chase down some fanciful creatures who step out of an old film and into reality. I love the premise and I'd be excited about this one, except this comes from the same writer as last season's fairy episode, which wasn't as much fun as it sounded.

Sunday

Shameless (Sundance Channel) 9:00 PM EDT
Lip finds a new lover -- in a very Gallagher way -- and dumps Mandy Maguire. Oh, I know I'm supposed to be concerned about him staying out of prison, but I'm wondering how this affects Ian, since she was playing his beard.

State of the Union (Showtime) 10:00 PM EDT
New American citizen Tracey Ullman offers her first show where she imitates recognizable people, including Renee Zellweger, Arianna Huffington and Rita Cosby (a perfect target for Tracey, oui?) along with people mean. Considering how good she is at creating characters representing the diversity of the American people. I think if I see one more trailer, I'll have to give in and subscribe to Showtime for this one.

NewNowNext (Logo) Midnight EDT
Quintessential party band The B-52's host Logo's weekly look at music of interest to LGBT audiences.
