News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Today's show is another episode where Ellen and her upcoming marriage to Portia DeRossi have generated headlines as Ellen brings up her impending nuptials with recently-married guest Jenna Hager (nee Bush) and her mother, Laura. I'm really enjoying seeing Ellen discuss marriage on her show, as she she is making the issue personal for thousands, if not millions, of her viewers who don't personally know any gay couples in California.

So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) 8:00 PM EDT
While Fox' summertime talent competition show hasn't had any major moments of gay inclusiveness, this show certainly has a gay following. I didn't get to mentioning last week's premiere, but if you enjoy the audition rounds, there are still three more installments to catch.

Top Chef (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
Tonight's episode sees the winners from the past three seasons — including last season's winner Hung, who identified as bisexual in the reunion special but hasn't discussed it further — returning for a challenge focused on meat. While this season hasn't had much to discuss in terms of gay male visibility, it has continued to deliver for foodies.

I have to say that Ellen, in

I have to say that Ellen, in bringing up her personal life and forcing people who are against it -- or claim to be (the Bush sisters apparently have gay friends and have attended commitment ceremonies in the past, if the buzz is true), is doing more to "normalize" same-sex marriage and also gay relationships in general than all the pundits and bloggers put together. By saying, "See? This is my life? Aren't I the same as you? Aren't I equal to you?" to John McCain is HUGE. Minds are changed one at a time. One at a time!

    hmm....

I am happy for ellen and all, but dang....i would hate for people to get sick of all the wedding talk ala star jones. I mean, I am not able to watch her show...but i really hope she does not bring it up everyyyy freaking day. would hate to see it backfire on her.

    I don't know if Ellen

I don't know if Ellen brings up her upcoming nuptuals every day, but considering how there may be a ballot measure in Cali calling for an amendment to the CA constitution to ban same-sex marriage, I can understand why she's driving the point that marriage is important to her & Portia, along w/ thousands of other same-sex couples.

    Comment On So You think....

I enjoyed watching " so you think so you can dance " every week. I was wondering about their performance. Hands to the participants of this show.
