Queerview television guide: the Weekend of November 6

This weekend's gay TV highlight is the debut of Wanda Sykes' new late night talk show. Will Wanda be able to do for late night what Ellen accomplished in daytime?

But that's just part of a weekend that includes Betty feeling replaceable on Ugly Betty, the debut of the "Swtichback" challenge on The Amazing Race and trouble for a family not named Walker (or Harper) on Brothers & Sisters.

Friday

The cast of Hair will be performing a number on Friday morning. Hopefully, we'll get to see Gavin Creel as a part of the number.

Gay-fave Anderson Cooper and Mo'Nique will be showing up for this week's edition of "Fridays Live" to discuss why he is "joining forces with Oprah".

The Wendy Williams Show (syndicated) Check local listings
Wanda Sykes next stop in promoting her new show is a visit with Williams which, to say the least, has my hopes up for a very interesting segment of TV.

The Young and the Restless (CBS) Check local listings
Phillip and Chance try again to clear things up with each other after Wednesday's fight.

One Life to Live (ABC) Check local listings
While my crystal ball remains cloudy on the matter, we've been hearing murmurs that Kish might be showing up today. Next week, they'll have their first date so hopefully today we'll see a little bit of build-up to that event.

Tonight's show is even more gay than last night's panel (with Fran Drescher and Sandra Bernhard) as Sir Ian McKellen (who was supposed to be on last night) and recent birthday girl Kathy Griffin show up.

Ugly Betty (ABC) 9:00 PM EST
Betty has plenty of reasons for anxiety, thanks to Matt's date coming up and Daniel hiring his new pal as his assistant. Are the men in her Mode life getting ready to replace her?

Saturday

The Graham Norton Show (BBC America) 10:00 PM EST
This week, Graham welcomes Gavin and Stacey's Rob Brydon as well as classical singer Katherine Jenkins and Harry Connick, Jr.

The Wanda Sykes Show (Fox) 11:00 PM EST
It's finally here, the US' first late night talk show hosted by an out comic. In her debut edition, the outspoken Sykes talks with The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan, 24's Mary Lynn Rajskub and Brothers' Daryl "Chill" Mitchell. I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see a guest list heavy on stars from other Fox shows, considering the promos used a quote from the New York Post.

Sunday

The Amazing Race (CBS) 8:00 PM EST
The race heads to Stockholm where the remaining teams get to play with explosives and face a tough, classic challenge that sparks tension between brothers Sam and Dan.

Desperate Housewives (ABC) 9:00 PM EST
Marc Cherry has had a number of gay-faves appear on his ABC soap (to varying levels of success) and this week Kathy Najimy shows up. I'm trying to keep my expectations in check, since Najimy's character isn't even mentioned in the episode description. (Though it does look like she'll be locking Susan up in a jail cell, which certainly makes me happy.)

Brothers & Sisters (ABC) 10:00 PM EST
What's this, a Scotty story? This week papa Wendell shows up with "shocking news" about his marriage. I doubt it'll happen, but I'm going to be very amused if that news follows The Lost Language of Cranes at all. Meanwhile, Closer hottie Jon Tenney shows up as Nora's new pal-with-potential.

Well, that was much better than I hoped, at least all the drama pertained to being a stylist. This week promises a continuation of last week's drama thanks to another plan by Brett to get some income.
