News, Reviews & Commentary on Gay and Bisexual Men in Entertainment and the Media

Queerview television guide for November 10

Outspoken gay ally Keith Olbermann has expressed fiery outrage at a variety of topics in his "Special Comments" feature. Tonight, he turns that ire towards Proposition 8, the initiative which took the right of marriage away from California's same-sex couples (one of the few times an already-existing right has been taken away from a minority group). Olbermann also stops by The View to discuss Hot Topics, where the issue will likely be raised as well.

The View (ABC) Check local listings
After Friday's "three horribly uninformed women discussing same-sex marriage with Whoopi Goldberg" Hot Topics segment, I'm not sure if I could possibly recommend a full episode of Hot Topics ... but this time there'll be one more informed voice (for at least one segment) as MSNBC firebrand Keith Olbermann is scheduled to stop by. Considering what's coming up on tonight's Countdown, this just might make up for Friday's cringe-inducing discussion. Maybe.

Dancing with the Stars (ABC) 8:00 PM EST
We're at the point where each team dances twice and for Lance and Lacey I hear that means a foxtrot and a samba. Wow ... following this one week at a time, I only just realized Lance has made the final five. The final three is in sight! Keep your dialing fingers warmed up.

Countdown with Keith Olbermann (MSNBC) 8:00 PM EST
Olbermann has previously expressed his disgust at the inequality faced by same-sex couples and tonight he turns his eye towards California's discriminatory Proposition 8. Olbermann's "Special Comments" usually get repeated a bit in the media and I'm hoping this comment ends up resonating even more than usual.

First Class All the Way (Bravo) 10:00 PM EST
Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow are usually my antidote to some of the ... uhm, "less substantial" shows I watch ... and I guess a that can work the other way around. Tonight, Bravo's new reality show about the drama of arranging luxurious vacations includes a same-sex couple hoping to have a trip arranged for them.

What happened on Friday? What kringe inducing discussion? On the View? or on Olbermann?

    The cringe-inducing discussion

was on The View. Bad enough that Elisabeth was totally fact-free, but she kept interrupting Whoopi who was the only person who seemed to have studied the topic before discussing it.
